“Hats and tails”- embellishments often found in proper names. They tend to follow the rule: tails for political figures, hats for priestly figures, and both hats and tails for divine beings and high-minded concepts.

There was a taboo against commoners using hats and tails in their naming that lasted most of the first thousand years of the river-folk. This practice came to an end after the Golden Return.
