Central High School Announcements

General Announcements

~ Students please remember that CHS is a closed campus at lunch time, meaning students, you are to remain on site throughout the lunch period. Leaving school without permission is a violation of the student code of conduct. Afternoon TT Students who drive to TT - remember once you leave you may not return to CHS until after your TT class

~ Students you are reminded that student parking is available in the student lot only. Seniors, you may park in the empty spaces on the back row of the main parking lot facing Susan Avenue. See Ms. Bowen in the main office for a parking permit. Violations to parking expectations and/or driving regulations is a violation of CHS policy and parking privileges can be revoked.

~ Domino's lunch orders must be place by 10:45 am.  You must be in the office at the time of delivery UNLESS your order is prepaid and then it may be left on the counter in the front office.  Drivers are only able to wait 5 minutes for delivery payment before they must return to the store.  Those with unpaid (returned) orders will be banned from future deliveries to school.  So, eat PIZZA responsibly!

~ Visit "Central's news source," the Falconer. The site is updated regularly, so check it out at thefalconer.org.  

~ This is a reminder for upperclassmen who are enrolled in classes that do not meet every day- you must sign in and out on the computers in the main office. If you have permission to sign out during a block when you don't have a class, you must sign out at the beginning of the block and stay out for the entire block. If you are scheduled for a Virtual Virginia class, you must check in with Mr. Ennis in the Library. Please see Ms. Wymer or Ms. Bowen if you have questions about this process.

~ Students arriving to school late, you must check in with the attendance officer. If you are marked absent for 1st block you will be marked absent for the day.  Students arriving on time for 2nd block or during the lunch period should check in with attendance to ensure that you are marked appropriately for the day.

~ Are you 15 years and 6 months and still don't have your learners permit? Central will administer the test on February 9th during lunch. See Mrs. Sprague for details and to register.

~ Students who have previously attended BREGS and who want to apply to be an intern may get an application from Ms. Jarrett. Applications are due on Feb. 9.

Class Announcements

~ Senior trip balances are now due. Please see Mr. Foltz or Mrs. H. Walters to pay your remaining balance. Seniors who have not previously signed up for the Senior Picnic may still sign up.

Art/Drama/Music

~ Shenandoah National Park is happy to announce the 2018 "Youth Art in the Park" wildflower art contest. This contest is for any students in grades K-12. See Ms. Dill for more details.

FFA

~ Any first or second semester agriculture student who is interested in participating in the Ag mechanics contest should check in with Mrs. Curry by Thursday January 25.

~ Any first or second semester agriculture student that is interested in joining the parliamentary procedure team should check in with Mrs. Curry by Thursday January 25.

Athletics/Teams

~ The weight room will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:25-4:45. Winter workouts will go from December 4 through February 19. MUST BRING CLOTHES FOR BOTH INDOOR AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. Pick-up time is from 4:45-4:55. Please make arrangements for rides at that time. 

~ Early morning conditioning for boys soccer will be held in the New Gym from 6:30 a.m to 7:30 a.m. See Coach Poor for details.

Clubs

School Counseling Center (SCC)

~ Tutoring will be available every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the Library after school. Tutoring runs from 3:30-4:30. Please be in the Library by 3:40 at the latest if you plan to attend tutoring and make sure that your ride is on time.
