Let the pupils get their puppets and play with their

seatmates by making conversations about festivals or

celebrations in their provinces. Do this for 2-3 minutes only.

Ask the pupils to answer the assignments about hazards in their homes if

natural disaster strikes. Let some pupils share their answers.

1. Choose scenario depending on your situation and location.

Situation 1: Stranger trying to talk to kids

Situation 2: Stranger offering food to kids

Situation 3: Kids passing through a dark place

Situation 4: Kids who do not know their address

Situation 5: Kids who do not know the contact numbers of their

parents

Have you joined group activity ?

How did you feel while working or playing with them?

Have you experienced playing alone?

How did you feel when you played alone?

Sino-sinosainyoangnakaranasna o nakakitanangsunog?

C.Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson

Let children listen as teacher sings the song, “Awitng

Buhay”.

How many lines do we have in the song, “Awitng

Buhay”?

(There are three (3) lines.)

Teacher divides the class into three (3) groups.

Let the pupils sing “AwitngBuhay“ in three - part round.

.

Negros Occidental conducted the initial Masskara

Festival in 1980 when a tragic crisis in the sugar industry was

felt by the people. It was a declaration of the people in the

city that no matter how tough and bad the times were,

they pull through, survive and at the end triumph. The

biggest celebration of Masskara Festival takes place in

Bacolod City. Masskara Festival is also called “Festival of

Smiles” because people use masks that depict happiness

and joy to cover up sad faces.

Give the pupils time, at least 2 to 3 minutes to brainstorm on how they

should act during these situations.

.

D.Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

When we sang the song “AwitngBuhay” in unison, what kind of

melodic lines do we have? (Single Melodic Line)

How about when we sang it as a round song? What happened

to the melodic lines? (It became multiple melodic lines).

Some examples of their masks are shown below.

.

Let the pupils show their group presentations for 3-5 minutes only.

Ask:

Did you like the game? Did you enjoy it?

What part of your body was mostly used in fanning the ball?

What objects were used in the game?

Did you perform some levels of movement?

Can you demonstrate proper fanning?

a.Bakitnatinnararanasanangsunog?

b.Paanotayomakakaiwassasunog?

E.Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

What did you see in the video clip/picture/poster on

Mascara Festival in Bacolod?

Did you notice the colorful masks they wore?

What can you say about the different masks in the video

clip/picture/poster? If you had to make a mask, would you create your own

design? Why?

F.Developing mastery

(Leads to formative assessment)

Activity 1: Paper Mask Making

(Refer to LM page ___.)

Note: Explicitly explain the details of the directions in Mask

Making. You may also show samples of masks?

G.Finding practical/applications of concepts and skills in daily living

Group Work

Activity 2:

(Refer to LM page ___.)

Ask:

What is the festival that your province celebrates?

What is the festival about?

How do you involve yourself in celebrating festivals or

celebrations in your province?

What values did you learn from our discussion?

Explain your answer?

Push me Pull me

Materials: CD, CD player

Note: Play background music to make the game lively

Directions:

1. Get a partner and do cross sitting position while facing each other.

2. Place both palms together and hold on to each other

3. On the given signal, push and pull each other alternately and slowly like swaying.

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

When do we say that a song has a single or multiple melodic

lines?

(We have single melodic line when we sing songs in unison and

multiple melodic lines when we sing a song as round.)

What kind of sound do we produce if a song has a single

melodic line?

(With single melodic line, we have thin sound.)

What kind of sound do we produce if a song has multiple

melodic lines?

(We have thick sound if a song has multiple melodic lines.)

How can you make masks?

Mask making is fun. One can create a mask

artistically by using different shapes, colors and textures.

Masks can be made of paper, cardboard, paper plates, or

old folders. Strings, yarn, straws, and other materials can be

added to decorate the mask.

.

Synthesize the group presentations by discussing the different safety

guidelines on man-made hazard.

We can improve locomotor skills by participating in simple

games and relays.

We can develop hand and wrist coordination through

manipulative skills by learning basic wrist exercises.
