 Can you figure out which dog is the  shortest or longest, and which dogs are in between?

  1. Display Chant Chart 11.
  2. Ask the children: Can you figure out which dog is the  shortest or longest, and which dogs are in between?
  3. Cut strings to match the length of each dog and compare the strings, or measure the dog using snap cubes trains.
  4. Repeat with with the beds shown on the chart.
  5. Have volunteers match the string length or snap cubes train for each dog to bed.
  6. Ask: Which string or nap cube train did you use? Why?
  7. Place three classroom item on a table. 
  8. Demonstrate comparing the length of the objects and arrange them in order from shortest to longest.
  9. Pair the children.
  10. Distribute bags with three item inside.
  11. Have the partners examine the objects in their bags in order from shortest to longest.
  12. Visit partners to see how they are comparing the three objects.
  13. Ask: Which is the longest? Which is the shortest? How they found the longest and the shortest?
