This is the seventh of a regular ‘monthly’ newsletter published to club members providing summary key updates from the club.

All official announcements will still be made available as ever on the club website:

March Member of the Month

Sam McIndoe was awarded the March Member of the Month for her run in the Salisbury 10 Mile race, for leading Group Runs on Thursdays and for all the charity fund raising that she does.

April Member of the Month

Rob Jones was awarded the April Member of the Month for

his runs for the club in the HRRL events this year... the Stubbington 10K, the Eastleigh 10K, and the Salisbury 10M and he has already entered for the Alton 10M and the Netley 10K.   For his run in the first RR10 plus he attends more training sessions across Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays than any other member.

Club Championships

This years Club Championship event will take place at the Netley 10K hosted by Southampton Athletics Club.  The date is 18th May 2014 and the club is also holding a BBQ on after the race.  The Club Championships are open to all members. To be eligible to be included in the results and win a prize, the runner must be entered as a Hedge End Running Club member and run in an HERC vest.

There will be prizes similar to last year:

Men's and Ladies Champion

Men's Senior, V40 and V50 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Ladies Senior, V35 and V45 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Wyvern 10K Marshalls

The club will host the Wyvern 10K on the 13th July.  Members will be encouraged to provide assistance on the day, rather than running.  It is your chance to ‘give back’ something to the running community.  But, if you wish to run, it would be appreciated if you could provide a friend or family members to stand in for you, as a marshall or in another capacity.

Endure 24 Reserve List

Entries for the endure 24 race are now full, but if you would like to be placed on the reserve list for the club’s teams drop Alex an email.

2014 / 2015 Membership

If you have not renewed your club membership for this year, please can you rejoin here or let the membership secretary know of your intention to not rejoin.

Race Leagues (HRRL,SXCL & RR10)

The club is entered into two leagues throughout the next few months “The Hampshire Road Race League” (HRRL), and the RR10.

The HRRL is completed across various road race events and points are scored by the club and individually.  You enter any of the races as normal and by registering as a Hedgie runner you will automatically be part of the team depending on finishing position.

The RR10 league is a series of races organised by running clubs in south-west Hampshire for their members. The races are held on Wednesday evenings during the spring and summer. Entry is free. All of the races are 4-5 miles off-road. The standard of runners varies from 5-minute milers to 12+ minute milers so, however fast you are, there will always be someone to run with.

HRRL Positions

Looking like we will miss out on winning the HRRL men's B division 2 league to Farnham.  But with a last push, we can still come second and get promoted. It would help if some faster men entered next week's Alton 10 mile race where we may be short of men runners if there are any dropouts.  We should win the respective leagues, fingers crossed, for the Ladies A & B teams as well as the Mens A team’s

If you are taking part in Parkrun (if you aren’t why not?) make sure you register yourself with Hedge End Running Club, so you can compare your results with other members.  Weekly Club Results.  We have now had 123 members taking part at Netley Abbey Parkrun, completing a total of 2247 runs.  We have now overtaken Stubbington in terms of the total number of runs and also Lordshill in the total number of runners.
