Note: This position is a three year position. The first year the person is elected to President Elect. The second year s/he serves as President. The third year s/he serves as Past President.
Definition from By-Laws:
“President-Elect: The President-Elect shall succeed the presidency. He/she shall, in the absence of the President or in the President’s inability to serve, perform the duties of the President. He/she shall also perform those duties assigned to him/her by the President and/or the Board of Directors”.
II. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: General
Board Relationship: The President-Elect works very closely with the President throughout his/her term, assists in planning Board Meeting agendas and conducts such meetings in the President’s absence.
III. POSITION FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES: Specific
It is the on-going duty of the President-Elect to learn the duties and functions of the President by assisting the current President in all significant activities. Close collaboration of this kind results in “on-the-job-training” for the Presidency position, as well as providing essential assistance to and collaboration with the current President. In addition, the President-Elect is responsible for the following activities:
- Review newsletter as requested by the President.
- Assists President to arrange for preparation of certificates and gifts to Board members at the end of their term.
- Assist the President by notifying all Board and Committee Chairs regarding special meetings and any meeting changes.
- Usually serves as Parliamentarian to the Board.
