Remind     Free

This app is available on Android and iOS. It is mobile and can be accessed via any browser. It is one-way texting - designed to text families without having them text you back. Nearly everyone has their mobile device on them at almost all times. This is a way to communicate immediately and directly with families. (think homework, updates, changes, reminders, links, photos, documents)

Why I love it:
I have been using this service for the past few school years and, as much as I love being able to push reminders and content to my families, my families love the immediacy and reminders. It’s an extra, easy way to ensure that everyone is on the same page. It is an invaluable tool in my teacher arsenal.

Word Lens     Free

This app is available on Android and iOS devices. It also the user to change the language of printed text. It is best used on short chunks of text like signage or brief menus. Using the camera built into your device, it recognized the texts and places the same words in the desired language on the screen in the correct places on the sign.

Why I love it:
It is traveler’s dream, but in the classroom it could be very handy for a student new to the English language. It is also a tool students can use to find out what a word is in another language. There is a small learning curve, but totally doable in the moment.

Adobe Voice     Free

This is my new favorite app. It is only available on iOS devices for the time being. It creates powerful, professional-looking, video in a variety of themes and for a variety of settings. It is very easy to use and publishing is a breeze, once you set-up an Adobe account.

Why I love it:

It is another welcome alternative to PowerPoint. It is perfect for storytelling and allows the user to plan and build, or create in the moment. Images are available from number of sources, as is the music. It is a highly useful, positively powerful tool to make a strong impression.
