Rites of the Catholic Church: over 20 of them. Not to be mistaken as Orthodox Churches. Orthodox is in schism with the Catholic Church, but rites are in communion with the Catholic Church. What we know of as the Roman Catholic Church is really one rite among many. The Roman RIte, also known as the Latin RIte, is the cultural liturgy that the Church of Rome had. This church prayed in a unique cultural way. Churches in different countries have the same sacraments and virtues, but do things culturally different. They have different liturgies and prayers. All of them though, are celebrating mass and worshiping God the Father.

Today in class we worked on questions in our Theology textbook. I feel that my critical thinking today was a ⅘ because I had to use reading and reasoning skills to complete the questions. I rate my creativity as a ⅗ because I had a couple questions that I had to think outside the box.
4/23/13
Today we were told to choose one out of multiple given choices of activities to do. I chose to read page 175 - 185 and highlight important parts. As I read, I discovered that highlighting significant information really helps me understand and remember it for the future. Today I rate my critical thinking as a 4 because I had to think outside the box and closely read the chapter to find out important parts. I rate my creativity a 3.5 because I had to choose for myself what I thought was important.

Today in class we were very productive. I read my theology book and highlighted parts that i thought were important, just as yesterday. We also talked about the Easter and Christmas season. I rate my critical thinking as a ⅘ again because of the important parts that i had to pick out, and i rate my creativity a ⅘ as well because of the discussion we had on the Easter and Christmas season.

Why do sacraments exist in the Catholic Church?
The reason we have sacraments is to make us holy, strengthen our relationship with God, and to institute the Body of Christ in our lives. The Sacraments are 7 guidelines of our faith, and they work to bring all the members of the Church together. The sacraments teach us with words and objects. They nourish, strengthen, and give expression to our faith. In celebrating the sacraments, God is present as gift, not as a result of personal faith. When the Church celebrates the sacraments, it professes the faith received from the apostles.

Scriptural Beginnings of Baptism
Baptism has been a part of Christianity since the very beginning. Baptism was instituted into the Christian faith by Jesus Christ, and the purpose of it was to cleanse the souls of those being baptized with renewal of our relationship with God. The first baptism, which was Jesus’ baptizm, occurred in the River Jordan by John the Baptist. John the Baptist was chosen by God to proclaim the first coming of Jesus Christ and his purpose for baptizing Jews was for repentance. He signified repentance in preparation for the submission to Christ. Jesus knew that he was greater than John, but the fact that such a powerful man like Jesus was baptized by a man such as John shows the communion and unity of their faith. This proves that anyone can be baptized if they are ready for their faith to be renewed.
Today I researched on the scriptural beginnings of Baptism. I feel like i was very productive today and had time to go into depth and learn about the beginning of baptism. I rate my critical thinking a ⅗ because I had to research and understand a new topic. I rate my creativity as ⅘ because it was challenging to put information into my own words. I rate my content a 3.5/5 because though it is true information, I could’ve gone more in depth.

Today I read a passage on “who can receive communion” and I posted a blog about it. I found the passage very interesting and i learned much about the preparation of receiving the body of Christ. I rate my critical thinking a ⅘ because i had to read a piece of work, analyze it, and re-explain it in a different way. I rate my creativity a 3.5/5 because it was quite challenging to re-explain what has already been so thoroughly explained. I rate my content a 5/5 because I feel that the information provided was excellent.
