FIRST is an co-curricular learning experience designed to teach students about science and  engineering. Students work with engineers and technicians to design and build a robot to compete in athletic-style competitions with schools from across the country. The team competes in regional and national events, along with several local events. The course is open to all students interested in the subject area and requires a minimum of 90% attendance to all FIRST-related events.
