Back in lesson 2, you created a project that demonstrated your knowledge of the causes of the revolution and how the tradition of self-government influenced the colonists. In lesson 4, you learned all about the major events of the American Revolution. This activity is designed to be a continuation of the project done in lesson 2. You will now add the information you learned in lesson 4. In this activity, you will demonstrate your knowledge of the important events of the revolution by completing a project that outlines the major events and explains their importance.

Benchmark:

5.4.4.17.3: Identify the major events of the American Revolution culminating in the creation of a new and independent nation.

Essential Question:

What were the major events of the American Revolution?

To complete Activity 4.7 please follow the steps below:

STEP 1:

You can choose to add to the project you already created in lesson 2, or you can choose to start a separate project. Your goal is to answer the question, “What are the major events of the American Revolution?”. You will answer this question by creating a project that will explain the major events of the American Revolution.

Looking back at the previous lessons, answer these guiding questions:

  1. Knowledge: Create a list of at least 10 important events of the American Revolutionary War. (Make sure to include the dates of each event.)

  1. Evaluation: Now, narrow that list down. What are the most important events to include?

Starting with the Battle of Lexington and Concord and ending with the Treaty of Paris in 1783, summarize the major events of the American Revolution by creating a visual flowchart, timeline, or chronological presentation.

  1. Include at least 10 key events of the American Revolutionary War.
  2. Include a short description of each event and include an explanation of why it was an important event in the American Revolution.
