‘A Chorus Girl’s Prize’, Daily Graphic, 2 May 1924

A Sinhalese chief in his native ceremonial dress, stiff with jewels, was in great hopes of winning the costume prize at the Empire Ball at Lord Leverhulmes Hampstead House on Wednesday night.

However, the winner, I hear, was Adeline Walker, of the Hippodrome chorus, who will now be numbered among the list of men and women, many of them famous and some of them royal, who have sat to Laszlo [13294].

As Laszlo seems to have put a “de” before his name recently, the girl from the Hippodrome should feel more pleased than ever.
