Dear Mr.de Laszlo,
I hope you may remember me in connection with my visit to you a few years ago with reference to a portrait of the King of Siam.
My reason for writing you now is to tell you that a fortnight ago I was in Budapest on business. During my stay I visited a picture gallery where I saw many paintings by Gynla Rudnay[1] – who is I understand a Hungarian – which impressed me so very favourably that I suggested to the proprietor of the gallery that it might be an excellent plan to send a collection of this artist’s works to be exhibited in London some time next Spring. The proprietor happened to tell me that you admired this man’s work, and, encouraged by this, I thought it would be invaluable to the success of such an exhibition to have your support. Therefore I venture to hope that you will allow me to call upon you Wednesday or Thursday next week at any time convenient to you, to discuss the question.[2]

I have just received from Budapest a few photographs of paintings by Rudnay, which of course I will bring to show you.
Yours sincerely,
Henry Dixon.
