We are 2 mothers with 3 children each, and are creating a research study as part of our graduation requirements for our MSW degrees from CSUN. We are trying to gather information about the potential benefits of meditation and mindfulness for parents. This study is completely anonymous, we will never contact you in any way.
We have found immense benefits from listening to a guided meditation from an app called Headspace. We have absolutely no affiliation with this app. It was created by a Buddhist monk in 2010 and is rated one of the top meditation apps. The website is very user friendly and offers a guided level one meditation that lasts for 10 minutes. We hope that you can experience some of the positive benefits to your parenting which can come from practicing mindfulness. These can include strengthening the relationship between yourself and your child/children.
If you would like to participate: please go to www.headspace.com and download the guided meditation onto your phone or computer and listen when you like to the 10-minute guided meditation. The goal is to listen several times a week but you are free to choose how many times you would like to experience the meditation and it may be as little as once weekly.
At the end of each week for three weeks, please go to:
https://qtrial2016q1az1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_87Ikz7RX53KiIFn
to fill out an anonymous one minute survey. At the end of the three weeks, the anonymous survey will be complete.
We thank you in advance for your consideration in helping us with our study. In return, we sincerely hope that the practice of this mindfulness exercise will aid in a more relaxed state of mind, more effective parenting and a stronger connection between yourself and your child/children.
