Viewing Tasks in Blackboard

Instructors have the option to set up tasks for students to do within their courses. They are a helpful way to keep track of things required of you within a course.

You can view tasks that have been created by your instructors using either of the following methods.

Viewing Tasks in Blackboard in a Specific Course

  1. Navigate to the desired course and click on the “Tools” navigation button on the left-hand side of your screen.


  1. Located within the Tools area of the course should be a link called “Tasks”. Click on the link to view tasks related to the course you are in.



  1. On this page, you will see all the tasks that the instructor has set up for you to complete.

 

  1. To set a status for a task, check the applicable boxes next to the tasks and hover your your cursor over “Status”. Choose one of the listed options, and the tasks will be updated to reflect your changes.


  1. Clicking on the title of a task will open up the description of the task, as well as the due date.


Click the OK button to go back to the previous page.

Viewing Tasks in Blackboard in all Your Current Courses

  1. On the MyUMFlint home page of Blackboard, on the left-hand side there should be a Tools menu. Click on the link labeled “Tasks”, as shown below.

  1. The page should now show a list of tasks in all your currently enrolled courses.



  1. You can create personal tasks by:

  1. Click on the gray button that is labeled “Create Personal Task”



  1. Set a task name, and give an optional description of the task.



  1. Set the due date for this task to be completed by.



  1. Set the priority to one of three options (Low, Medium, High)

  1. Press submit.

  1. To set a status for a task, check the applicable boxes next to the tasks and hover your your cursor over “Status”. Choose one of the listed options, and the tasks will be updated to reflect your changes.

  1. Clicking on the title of a task will open up the description of the task, as well as the due date.

  1. Click the OK button to go back to the previous page.
