Participatory Research and Co-management in Fisheries Symposium

24th to 26th February 2015, Barcelona

Welcome to the International Symposium on Participatory Research and Co-management in Fisheries, to be held at the WTC Barcelona between 24th and 26th February, 2015.

This interdisciplinary, international symposium will mark the conclusion of the GAP2 project – celebrating four years at the forefront of participatory fisheries research in Europe.

During the three-day event, we will provide an open forum to discuss and critically examine the successes and challenges of participatory research methods, using experience gained ‘in the field’ with fishers, scientists, and policy makers from research case studies across 11 different European countries. We will also debate perspectives on fisheries co-management and the role that participatory research can play in facilitating co-management.

Who else will attend?

The symposium is being designed for fishers, scientists, policy makers, journalists, and communications professionals from across Europe, with an interest in how more inter-disciplinary collaboration can help build and support sustainable fishing practices across species and national boundaries.

Translation services for the following languages will be provided for the symposium:

English, Spanish, Italian and French.
