Account Security

When registering to play in the ISTARIA: Chronicles of the Gifted game world, you will be prompted to create a login name, password and a selected secret phrase. You must choose all three in order to play the Game. The person registering this information will be solely responsible for the maintenance and security of his or her personal account information.

You may not disclose your password to any third party. No one at ISTARIA customer service will ever ask you for your password while you are in-game, by telephone or e mail; and you should not disclose it this way if someone asks you to do so.

Although we may offer a feature that allows you to "save" or "remember" your password on your computer’s hard drive, please note that, by using this feature, third parties may be able to access your computer and thus retrieve your Account information. Should your Account be compromised due to your disclosure or sharing of information, Virtrium is not responsible for any harm, deletions, or issues that may arise. Virtrium expressly denies all liability should such tampering occur, and the player is cautioned that he or she plays entirely AT HIS OR HER OWN RISK.

Virtrium uses a secret phrase system in order to verify and authenticate a player’s ownership of a specific online Account. It is the player’s sole responsibility to keep his or her secret phrase secure and not to disclose it to any third party. Virtrium will not ask for a player’s password, nor will we provide a password without verification of the secret phrase. In the event that a player is unable to recall his or her secret phrase, Virtrium is not required to release any type of information to the player.

If a player forgets his or her password, the player should go to http://horizons.istaria.com for assistance. On that Web site is a link to a form that the player may fill out in order to gain access to the “Password Help” functionality. This form requires multiple fields be filled out in order to verify the player’s identity, including answering a specific question pre-selected by the player. Virtrium will then compare the information on the form to the player’s account and send the password via email if the information matches what we have on record. In no event will Virtrium be held liable for a player’s failure to remember his or her secret phrase.

Transferring Ownership Of Account

Virtrium retains the final right of ownership for all Istaria Accounts. If the use of an account is transferred to another party (such as when a parent sets up an account for a minor child), the new party must agree to and abide by the same Rules of Conduct and policies that the person who originally set up the account agreed to follow.

Name Changes

Name changes made on the account must follow Virtrium’ Naming Policy. If ownership of an account is transferred to another person and the account has already reached the maximum number of allowable name changes, Virtrium will not change the character name.
