Principles of Sonography and Doppler Ultrasound

This course is presented by Frederick W. Kremkau, PhD, professor and director of the Program for Medical Ultrasound at Wake Forest School of Medicine, past president of the AIUM, and author of Principles and Instruments, now in its ninth edition.

This activity covers the major topics involved in how modern ultrasound imaging and Doppler ultrasound work. It provides an introduction for participants who are new to the field; as well as a review for practicing physicians, sonographers, and other health professionals.

Course Objectives:

 

  1. State the content of professional statements related to cervical length measurement, the rationale for cervical length measurement in the second trimester of pregnancy, and the application of cervical length measurements in clinical management.
  2. Identify the 9 sonographic image and measurement criteria for cervical length and cervical length measurement pitfalls to improve individual sonographic skills through the Perinatal Quality Foundation CLEAR Program.
  3. Discuss emerging technology for future cervical assessment.
