Instructor  Creation of an Account in TURNITIN

Linn-Benton Community College

In order to use Turnitin outside of Moodle*, Instructors must have a Turnitin account. To create an account, you must have the LBCC account number and password.  If you have used Turnitin in the past, see the warning below before creating another account/profile.

Note: if all of your courses use Moodle course shells, neither you nor your students need to create accounts.  You only need an account if you are accepting submissions outside of Moodle.

  1. Go to Turnitin: Create a New Instructor Account.
  2. For Account ID # use: 79313.
  3. For Join password # use: turnitinLb2.
  4. Complete the form as directed.
  5. After you have clicked “I agree--create a profile” you will be given the option to create one or more courses to accept assignments.
  6. Be sure to keep track of the course name, the ID number (assigned by Turnitin) and the class enrollment password (created by you).  Your students will need all of this information.

To practice being a student:

Warning: If you have used Turnitin.com in the past, then you may already have an account. Do not create a new account.  Students who have previously created a Turnitin profile will need to log into their existing accounts, as creating duplicate accounts with duplicate class enrollments can cause issues.  To fix these issues, your instructor, possibly the school administrator, and the Turnitin Help Desk will need to be involved.

*Note: if all of your courses use Moodle course shells, neither you nor your students need to create accounts.  You only need an account if you are accepting submissions outside of Moodle.

All of your students will need accounts (if you are using Turnitin outside of Moodle);  these instructions are for students creating an account in Turnitin;
