General Objective

To bring together the four linguistic skills necessary for a student to put Spanish grammar into practice and achieve fluency in different subjects of conversation.

Program

1. Listening Comprehension

Analysis of diverse materials (radio programs, video, cinema, music, social interaction) to improve the student’s comprehension and facilitate the social-cultural element of Spanish immersion.

2. Oral

Bringing together all of the linguistic abilities and activities to improve the fluidity of the students speaking as well as their pronunciation.

3. Reading Comprehension

Analysis of diverse texts (literary, essays, articles) to strengthen the student’s critical thinking and assist the acquisition of new vocabulary.  Improve the understanding of the cultural, social, political, economic and environmental context of Mexico, which will then be applied to debates and conversation.

4. Writing

Acquisition of information and vocabulary along with grammatical analysis to improve their writing skills and apply to their oral abilities.

Course Evaluation

The final course grade is evaluated based on the following points:

• Homework and Essays: 30%
• Oral – social interaction: 30%
• Listening and Reading Comprehension: 30%
• Attitude and disposition in the class: 10%
