Day 1
Well, okay then. It’s just gonna start the day like normal.
That’s actually fairly disappointing. I mean, I wasn’t expecting anything on the level of when we defeated Groudon or Rayquaza, but I’d at least expected something. Even if it’s just a brief line before fleeing or collapsing, like “I’d have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn’t been for you meddling mons,” or something. Or even just seeing ver collapse. Or… anything, really.
Oh hey, it looks like I spoke too soon! Now I get to read about the impact of my…
Uh…?
I am reasonably certain that this was caused, in terms of the coding of the game, by me completing Stormy Sea. In story terms, though, this appears to be a complete coincidence, which is still quite unsatisfying.
This is also treated as a normal article, just in case the player wishes to read it again.
I’ve read that, once IQ is maxed out, a Pokémon gains an IQ skill that allows breaking through walls, though at the cost of Belly. So, perhaps best to wait until I’ve reached that point. I’ve also read that there’s a move, with 99PP, that allows for breaking through walls (and is exclusively for that purpose), but I have yet to encounter it.
I must admit, that line actually gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling, even despite, or perhaps even partially because of, it being a bit cheesy.
I think this is the first time that I’ve bought all but one item off the list. There was a particularly good selection here. Gravelrocks, Huge Apples, and Reviver Seeds, all things that I desire.
In the meantime, still nothing I really want from this list.
Probably a lot of really old, unappetizing stuff.
As opposed to where?
Very old ones, I imagine.
Actually, more asking for future reference. I intend to attempt Fiery Field first.
Why is that disturbing? Isn’t this after he turned over a new leaf (pun intended), as far as his greed is concerned? I mean, yes, it’s clearly still on his mind, but he now cares about other stuff as well.
I would have been fairly disappointed if he had no new dialogue about the Buried Relic. Heck, I’m already a bit disappointed that the young and excitable Caterpie says nothing new about it. Not to mention, I was hoping Dugtrio had some new outlandish boast concerning it.
Or paw. Or wing. Or tentacle. Or… I guess Pokémon like Voltorb would need to bring a friend for this one.
Aaaand it’s official. I shall likely only be visiting Buried Relic after I have finished with all three fields. It appears that, in order to complete that part of the Buried Relic experience on my first run of that dungeon, such shall be necessary. This also brings up concerns in my mind that the dungeon’s difficulty may have been decided with this in mind.
Anyway, giving Cherithe some more gummies:
+1 Special Defense
+2 Attack
+1 Defense
+1 Special Attack
Woo!
With that out of the way, I should go back to giving gummies to someone who actually needs it. To the Reddybear!
I have three!
+2 Attack
+1 Special Defense
Anyway, off to business as usual. Like said, I’ll be saving Buried Relic until later.
In a forest. Because logic.
Wow, this cave is really leaky.
We met again, square of water, but this time, I will be the victor. Because All-Terrain Hiker.
And this time, I’ve come prepared, Snorlax! Give it your all!
…Your all wasn’t all that much, it seems.
In a cave.
It’s a difficult choice, but type diversity isn’t as important for Reddybear, because he doesn’t really know how to use it very well, while it doesn’t take much of a sophisticated AI to benefit from the Same-Type Attack Bonus. Faint Attack never misses, true, but he doesn’t know when to use that effectively, either (for example, when hit with the Whiffer status effect). Those, combined with the pitiful PP count, mean that Faint Attack is the one to leave.
Day 2
To start things off, let’s give Reddybear some gummies.
+1 Attack
+2 Special Attack
+1 Defense
And off we go, to uncharted waters. Except you can see on the map exactly where it is, so it’s not exactly all that uncharted.
Not very waterfall-ish, but very pretty, so I’ll forgive you this time, mister game.
To be fair, I’m not sure what exactly I’d make a “waterfall cave” look like. For that matter, I’m not sure what a “waterfall cave” even is. Is it a cave hidden behind a waterfall, perhaps?
Anyway, again, rushing the stairs first time through.
It is at this point that everyone, especially my DA audience, starts spewing every single “i herd u liek mudkipz” joke ever.
Ah, my first nullified trap! It feels good to have Trap Seer!
Mind, there’s still the chance of an ally stepping on a trap first, but that is a relatively small one.
Drumming on vis belly with what, exactly?
Basically a Gravelrock, but worse.
Ah yes, Protect. From what I’ve gathered, this is also considered to be a rather broken move. For good reason, really. It took six turns for its invulnerability from this move to wear off.
I don’t recall for certain, but I think this is the second time ever that I have actually used Blast Seed as an attack. Though, honestly, about as powerful as a normal attack, here.
Anyway, nothing too exciting, that I saw, other than a couple of starters (Mudkip and Totodile) being present.
Day 3
Nothing of note in town, so time for a normal mission.
So many shiny orbs.
As it turns out, Trap Avoider has an unfortunate, though thankfully rare, side effect. Not only will the ally not move onto a trap (which a Wonder Tile counts as, for whatever reason), but they will also not attack anything within one. Cherithe was circling this Pidgey, getting hit repeatedly, until I stepped in to defeat it.
Sniped once more. But fortunately, that does not stop my spikes!
Well, that’s new and interesting. Something to explore tomorrow.
Day 4
But one gummi today, increasing Reddybear’s Attack (is if that were necessary) by 1.
Anyway, let’s take a look at that Weather Band!
Situational, but this could be very useful for Reddybear, if I decide to visit Sandstorm Central again.
Since there are no new missions of acceptable rank, off to Darknight Relic!
I see! This is very… dark?
Oh. Apparently, it is quite dark, in a rather lazy way.
Something tells me this may be a bit much. Keep in mind, this is simply the first floor.
Shuppet feeds off anger (among other negative emotions), so it seems only fitting to name it after FromSoftware.
Level 28. Fairly impressive, for the first floor.
Anyway, sadly, this dungeon is entirely based around Ghost-types. Thus, I’ll have to use Gravelrocks a lot of the time, to target enemies in walls. Given that this is post-credits, the effectiveness of those is dropping off. Honestly, all things considered, if I find myself having trouble here, I should probably do this dungeon alone (at least them, I can lure enemies out of walls sometimes, whereas if I am in a group, that’ll just mean another teammate will be in position to be attacked by the wall-shielded enemies instead).
Yes, I would say it is about time for this. I should come back again alone, ideally after gaining more power (type advantage will only get one so far).
Day 5
Three jobs here, conveniently enough! I’ll go ahead and rush the stairs again this time, for the most part, since Reddybear is still in danger of being one-shotted by Powder Snow.
Fortunately, even if they have Trap Avoider turned on, I can force them onto a Wonder Tile by standing on one and walking into them.
I forgot to use it at the time, but I had a Joy Seed I was saving for when Reddybear leveled up.
Oh. Huh. I actually was not expecting the fight to occur again.
I threw a spike, Kyogre approached, I bit it, Reddybear used Fury Swipes, and we won, with no damage taken.
Woo!
Day 6
First thing’s first, off to feed Reddybear copious amounts of candy!
+2 Special Defense
+4 Attack
+3 Special Attack
Additionally, the Black Gummi I got went to me, granting +1 Defense.
In any case, before I continue, I shall note that I have come upon information about friend areas and dungeons exclusively unlocked by Wonder Mail. I actually mainly just care about the dungeons. I’m not striving for 100% completion (this LP would probably wear out its welcome quite a fair bit if I tried that) and I already have the party I want, so friend areas are not a concern. However, I want those new dungeons because they provide something new and interesting to show. That said, two of those friend areas also automatically unlock dungeons, so I’ll be aiming for those as well.
Due to both my obscurity (I still have only ever received one viewer-submitted mission, by someone who I don’t think actually reads my content) and the semi-obscurity of the above, I shall not rely on my audience to submit codes for those. Instead, I have found codes online for those, which I will be using for days where I have no randomly-generated missions that are of acceptable difficulty, such as this one, or just whenever I see fit. Mind, my first mission is a D-rank one, but oh well.
To victory!
Too easy, perhaps, but oh well.
Reddybear defeated one enemy.
I get the feeling you’ll be a very happy sort by the end of this, then.
Oy…
Day 7
After giving Reddybear more gummies:
+1 Defense
+3 Special Attack
+2 Attack
Anyway, to finish off the week, let’s explore that new dungeon!
Interesting new aesthetic, this.
Given the dungeon used to unlock this one, I am surprised at these enemies being so tough. A normal enemy in Sinister Woods would be taken down by one regular attack. Here, it takes three.
“Any man with two hands has a fighting chance,” sayeth James Ellsworth. Which is good, considering that this guy doesn’t have much of anything else, in terms of body parts. Certainly no chin to speak of.
As long as there are new recruits, the scourge of traps will never truly be defeated.
Apparently, attacking into a space reveals a trap within. Interesting.
Interesting, but highly situational. I’ll keep my Pecha Scarf, for now.
…I’ll go ahead and disable that move, now.
Two of the party members are weak to ground-type. Lovely.
Teamwork!
So many Baltoys.
Ooh, pretty!
Sadly, I’m likely to lose a Reviver Seed here. No way to get both Reddybear and Geodude out of harm’s way, and if I tried the latter, it’d waste a fair bit of time.
This is definitely troublesome.
…Yup.
And there goes my second (and last) Reviver Seed.
…Of course she waits until this point to use Agility.
I could understand if it were Geodude on the receiving end of that, or even if it were a critical hit (though even then, I’d be surprised). However, here…
…Yeah. Best to come back later.
