Seguin ISD SMART tag™ ID
Frequently Asked Questions

- Where will my child receive their SMART tag™ ID?
All schools have received and will distribute
SMART tag™ IDs to students who do not already

  have one.

- How can I use a SMART tag™ ID to track my child’s bus?
Bus information will be shared via the
SMART tag™ Parent App, which is available for

Apple iOS and Android devices. Parents can also download the app here. The SMART tag™

Parent Portal can also be accessed on a desktop or tablet.

- How does the SMART tag™ ID work?

Each child’s ID card has a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip and barcode.

The RFID chip allows parents registered with the district to monitor their student’s transportation from pick-up to drop-off. Seguin ISD students will use their ID’s barcode for school lunches, library use, and the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) reward system.

- Does my child already have a SMART tag™ ID?
Seguin ISD students who were enrolled at Barnes Middle School or Briesemeister Middle

School in the spring 2024 semester have already received their cards. All other Seguin ISD

schools have begun distributing cards to students.

- What happens if my child loses or damages their SMART tag™ ID?
Replacement cards are available for $5.00 each.

Pre-K and elementary students can order a replacement from their school or pick one up at the

Transportation Department. Middle & high school students can replace their cards at their

  respective campus.

All students can use their ID number to receive meals and check out library materials while

waiting for a replacement. Cafeteria staff can also look up students by their name. Teachers

can also manually enter points for the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

  reward system.

- If my child was late registering for school, will they still be able to receive this SMART

  tag™ ID?
Yes, Seguin ISD will print additional cards for those students who registered late for the new

school year. They will be distributed at their campus or given to those who ride the bus.
