General Rulebook

Acknowledgement of Rules and Regulations. By registering to participate, players acknowledge to

comply with the rules and regulations of the tournament and with any decisions made by the staff of AcadArena.

GENERAL RULES

  • Delay of the Game: Every participant must make sure to perform any updates or installations before the game. Any delays that impact the flow of the tournament will result in a disqualification from that tournament.
  • Submitting Team Scores: Players are responsible for submitting scores at the end of each match. He/She must submit "screenshots" of the match, for every match in the tournament. Failure to provide screenshots upon request will result in a loss for the match in question, unless the opposing team can help confirm the scores.
  • Unsportsmanlike Behavior: Players are not allowed to use racist, sexist, or other inappropriate language or behavior. Any reports of trash talk or any other forms of unsportsmanlike behavior may result in a disqualification at the discretion of tournament marshals.
  • Check-in Time: Team Captains may start checking-in their team 30 minutes before the start of the tournament and 15 mins prior the start of each round. Failure to check-in after 20 minutes of match starts will result in disqualification
  • Pause time: Teams are entitled to a ten (10) minutes pause per game. Should teams exceed the limit for the pause time, the team should immediately inform any AcadArena officials.
  • Lobby Creation: Teams in the Upper Bracket are responsible for the creation of the lobby to be used for their match.
  • Side Selection: Teams in the Upper Bracket will be referred to as the BLUE side, while the lower bracket team will be referred to as the RED side.
  • Cheating: Any players caught cheating or using any 3rd party tool or application that would give that player an advantage over others will be disqualified on the spot and may be subject to permanent bans from AcadArena events.
  • Ghosting/Account Sharing: Ghosting and Account sharing is a serious offense. Any players caught sharing accounts and ghosting will be disqualified on the spot and may be subject to permanent bans from AcadArena events.
  • Bugs and Glitches: Stay away from any bugs. glitches, or exploits that diminishes the competitive integrity of a match. AcadArena reserves the right to use our discretion in issuing a match disqualification and warning to any perpetrators.
  • Accounts. Players must use the accounts they registered on the form and should  be used for the entire tournament duration. Using accounts other than the one that is registered will be disqualified.
  • Remake. In case a player disconnects in the pick and ban phase, the teams may remake the lobby provided that the pick and bans will remain the same up to the point where the player got disconnected.

  1. Competition Eligibility

  1. Age. Students must be at least 1st year college to participate in the POVA4 Pro Collegiate Cup.

  2. Enrollment Status. All participating students must submit proof of enrollment in relevant AcadArena channels proving the following;

  1. Is currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in the latest academic semester of the campus;
  2. Is currently enrolled in a masters program in the latest academic semester of the campus;
  1.  Team Management
  1. Teammates. Players from different schools may form a team together.
  2. Roster Size. Teams will be required to have at least five (5) and no more than five (5) eligible players on its roster at all times. There are no restrictions on position or designation of starter. These five players are collectively referred to as the Active Roster.
  3. Roster Management
  1. Lock. Teams are not allowed to adjust their Active Roster once the tournament has started
  1. Competition Conduct
  1.  Unfair Play. The following actions will be considered as unfair play and will be subject to penalties at the discretion of tournament officials.
  1. Collusion. Collusion is defined as any agreement among two (2) or more players to disadvantage opposing players. Collusion includes, but is not limited to, acts such as:
  1. Soft play, which is defined as any agreement to not damage, impede or otherwise play to a reasonable standard of competition in a game.
  2.  Pre-arranging to split prize money or any form of compensation.
  3. Deliberately losing a game for compensation, or for any other reason, or attempting to induce another player to do so.
  1. Exploiting. Exploiting is defined as intentionally using any in-game bug or any feature not working as intended, at the sole discretion of tournament officials, to seek an advantage.

  2. Ghosting. Playing under another player’s account or soliciting, inducing, encouraging or directing someone else to play under another player’s account.

  3. Official Discretion. Any other further act, failure to act, or behavior, which in the sole judgment of tournament officials, violates these Rules and/or the standards of integrity established by AcadArena for competitive play.

  4. Profanity and Hate Speech A Team Member may not use language that is obscene, foul, vulgar, insulting, abusive, libelous, slanderous, defamatory or otherwise offensive or objectionable; or promote or incite hatred or discriminatory conduct. This rule applies to public social media, live streaming, or player comms during the tournament.

  5. Disruptive Behavior. A Team Member may not take any action or perform any gesture directed at an opposing Team Member, fan, or official, or incite any other individual(s) to do the same, which is insulting, mocking, disruptive or antagonistic.

  1. Unprofessional Behavior

  1.  Responsibility Under Code. Unless expressly stated otherwise, offenses and infringements of these Rules are punishable, whether or not they were committed intentionally. Attempts to commit such offenses or infringements are also punishable.

  2. Harassment. Harassment is defined as systematic, hostile, and repeated acts taking place over a considerable period of time, or a singular egregious instance, which is/are intended to isolate or ostracize a person and/or affect the dignity of the person.

  3. Discrimination and Denigration. Team members may not offend the dignity or integrity of a country, private person, or group of people through contemptuous, discriminatory, or denigrating words or actions on account of race, skin color, ethnic, national or social origin, gender, language, religion, political opinion or any other opinion, financial status, birth or any other status, sexual orientation or any other reason.

  4. Statements Regarding the POVA4 Pro Collegiate Cup, AcadArena, and any of its sponsors. Team Members may not give, make, issue, authorize, or endorse any statement or action having, or designed to have, an effect detrimental to the best interest of the POVA4 Pro Collegiate Cup, AcadArena or its affiliates.

  5. Player Behavior Investigation. If a tournament official determines that a Team or Team Member has violated any of the aforementioned rules outlined in this document, tournament officials may assign penalties at their sole discretion.

  6. Cooperation with Investigation. If a tournament official contacts a Team Member to discuss an investigation, the Team Member is obligated to tell the truth. Anyone caught lying will be considered as obstructing the investigation and will also be subject to punishment.

  7. Confidentiality. A team member may not disclose any confidential information provided by AcadArena by any method of communication, including all social media channels.

  8. Falsified Documents. If proven that a team has given false information to an official in any documents requested, the team will be immediately disqualified and its players banned from AcadArena events for twenty four (24) competitive months.

  9. Non-Compliance. No Team Member may refuse or fail to apply the instructions or decisions of AcadArena officials.

  10. Destruction of Property. Should any instance of property destruction occur, AcadArena will not be responsible for the replacement / payment for damages and will be the responsibility of the player to do so. Destruction of property may be subject to further punishment depending on the circumstance of the situation at the discretion of AA officials.

  11.  Subjection to Penalty. Any person found to have engaged in or attempted to engage in any act that AcadArena officials believe, in their absolute discretion, constitutes unfair play, will be subject to penalty. The nature and extent of the penalties imposed due to such acts shall be in the sole and absolute discretion of AcadArena.

  12. Penalties. Upon a completed investigation of any Team Member committing any violations of the aforementioned rules, AcadArena may, without limitation of its authority issue the following penalties:

  1.  Verbal Warning

  2.  Loss of Map Selection for Current or Future game

  3.  Prize Forfeiture

  4.  Game Forfeiture

  5.  Match Forfeiture

  6.  Player Suspension

  7.  Team Disqualification

  1. Repeated infractions are subject to escalating penalties. It should be noted that penalties may not always be imposed in a successive manner with the penalty being proportional to the severity of the infraction committed.
