Do you wish you could communicate more clearly and effectively with colleagues and clients?

Do you wish your employees had better communication skills?

We are developing the perfect training course for your needs!

We are an international consortium supported by the European Commission. Our online course IC Clear is designed for people like you who need better communication skills but are too busy to take time out for classroom training. It is based on the best international research and expertise.

Try out our course for free

To ensure that our course meets your needs we want you to try it out, free of charge. You will tackle one or two of our ‘pilot’ modules: we will assess your skills and you will assess our course.

The pilot modules cover the following topics:

Module 0: Clear communication practice and process

Module 1: Planning and evaluating communications

Module 2: Clear writing

Module 3: Design for clarity

Module 0 is an introductory module and it is compulsory. It starts on 31 March and ends on 27 April (4 weeks). The other three modules 1, 2, and 3 follow module 0 and all start on 5 May and end on 29 June (8 weeks).

Taking a module will ask about 12 hours a week of your time, but there is no requirement to be online at a certain time of day.

If you wish, you can apply for introductory module 0 only, but we suggest you also continue to one other module, either 1, 2, or 3. You cannot start module 1, 2 or 3 without finishing module 0 first.

How and when to apply?

To apply please complete and submit the

IC Clear pilot module application form

by 28 February 2014 at the latest

If you would like to take an extra module after the introductory module 0, please state on the form which extra module you prefer:  1, 2, or 3. In the last week of module 0 you will have the chance to confirm or change your preference.

What’s next?

By 10 March you will receive a message telling you whether your application has been approved. If so, we will send you everything you need in order to register for module 0 (registration deadline: 17 March).

After registering you can log in to our online learning environment Itslearning. Before the start of module 0 you can watch a welcome video with all the practical details you will need. You also introduce yourself (online) to your instructors, coaches and peers, and arrange your settings and ePortfolio on Itslearning. Module 0 launches on 31 March and ends on 27 April.

Your commitment?

We run our pilots to guarantee future participants a high-quality and user-friendly IC Clear course. For you, the pilots are free of charge but in return we ask for your commitment to end a module once you started it. We will also ask your feedback from time to time. We estimate that it will take you about 12 hours a week to complete a module (to read, individual or group assignments, contribute to discussions, attend online meetings, share feedback, etc.). So that is also the minimum amount of time we ask you to dedicate to the pilot.

What else do you need?

Since we are working in an international setting with many non-native English speakers, our common language will be ‘international English’, so we expect you to have a reasonable knowledge of English. The pilot modules are provided online, so you will need a computer, and be familiar with commonly-used software and the internet.
