My name is [insert name] and I am a member of the Daly City/San Mateo County community.

The little information being shared about the fatal shooting of Roger Allen on April 7, 2021 is very disheartening. I and many others would like to see our community as a safe place where people of color do not have to worry about being shot and killed by police.

We have seen too many communities across the country experience pain and trauma as the result of reckless and violent actions by law enforcement and police brutality. Daly City is a city that prides itself on its diversity, yet our community is suffering and is demanding answers, stop being hypocritical and protecting these officers when you recently denounced police violence and brutality. Our community deserves real leadership and transparency.

I understand that all of the information may not be shared during the investigation, but as a member of the community I am demanding that you provide an update immediately, identifying the shooter and for the officers involved to be fired without pension.

Additionally, I demand that this investigation is done by a non-biased and neutral 3rd party as it is a conflict of interest for SMC to investigate their own officers. We demand accountability and will not stop until we get justice for Roger Allen, here is a full list of our community’s demands:

• Identify the shooter of Roger Allen and what role the other officers played that night. Identify the people in the car with him that night.

• Fire the officers involved and at the scene of the shooting of Roger Allen without pension or any form of financial compensation. Paid leave is NOT ENOUGH.

• Release any relevant video footage or audio recordings collected by Daly City Police, from police sources or cameras of residents near the site of the execution, to the family.

• Hire a neutral/non-biases 3rd party, to conduct an investigation of the officers involved in the Roger Allen killing. This must be chosen in collaboration with the family, to ensure transparency and to avoid any conflict of interest by DCPD and the S.M.C. District Attorney (DA).

• Transparency on why DCPD have NOT implemented body-worn cameras by now, with their already massive budget of over $33 million and the funds and implementation of them being approved 5 years ago!!!

• DEFUND DALY CITY POLICE and reallocate these funds to community groups and organizations in our community.
