After viewing the 4.1.2 presentation on DNA, genes, and chromosomes, draw a picture and describe the relationship between DNA, genes, and chromosomes.
Build a DNA molecule
PURPOSE:
To construct a 3-D model of a section of a DNA molecule.
TASK:
You will build a 3-D model of a DNA molecule. Your model may be made of any common household material. The model may hang, stand, or lie on their sides, but should be able to maintain a definite shape when you are not there. Your model must be labeled or include a key.
YOUR 3-D MODEL MUST INCLUDE/SHOW EACH OF THE FOLLOWING:
1) Correctly bonds at least 12 base pairs 2) Correctly constructs the sugar-phosphate backbone 3) Correctly bonds the bases to the sugar-phosphate backbone 4) Correctly displays the double helix shape 5) Correctly interprets the model with a key and labels (adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine, sugar, and phosphate) |
