A mathematics gateway program guides students through a course of study in mathematics that is vital to their future success as STEM majors. While intended to progress students through their course of study, gateway programs are often unintended roadblocks that cause many students to leave STEM fields. This session will focus on curriculum content, pathways, and teaching methods that characterize successful gateway programs. We will also consider changes in the administration of these courses that can further student success and create a more socially equitable learning environment.
