Atlanta Need/Assistance Survey

This survey is created by Atlanta community organizers to connect those in need with others that can provide assistance. Due to the lack of access to healthcare, childcare, groceries, shelter, and transportation, we will try to provide as much assistance to each other as possible. As this is a developing situation, we are preparing our best for what may lay ahead. Feel free to take what you need and provide as much support as you can to help your fellow Atlantans! While we are a community trying to do our best, assistance is dependent on volunteer availability and resources, and is therefore not guaranteed.

For direct communication, contact us at atlresponse@gmail.com or (551) 697-1568.

Puede buscar información del centro de salud más cercano aquí: https://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/;

“Emory Healthcare is taking on testing and has capacity this week for 1000 tests per day and will have a capacity of 3000 tests per day by next week. At this time, Grady and Emory are the only health systems in Atlanta Metro performing tests for COVID-19. Piedmont will be utilizing the Emory lab to process their samples.”

I called Grady, Emory, and Piedmont earlier today. Grady said they are only taking folks who are already their patients// only taking in folks who have a fever and cough. Emory is only taking folks who are already their patients. Piedmont said they are not testing for covid19 but you can go in for an evaluation.

These places also said call the Dept of Public Health, (I’ve seen folks post that this wasn’t helpful to them either), and the dept of ph said to call your [primary care physician (PCP)] and if you don’t have one that they -don’t- have a list of places that are offering tests and recommended to call urgent care places individually to ask.”

I can't get a test for COVID-19: Do you have symptoms of COVID-19 and can't get a test? We want to hear from YOU (people living in the United States only please).

  • We are gathering this data for a week of action to demand tests. Public health starts with us knowing if we are sick.
  • We are Heroes 4 Healthcare and the Center for Popular Democracy (www.populardemocracy.org) and we have worked on a range of healthcare campaigns including to save the Affordable Care Act, to end the opioid epidemic and to reduce the high cost of prescriptions drugs. Please do not share information in this form that you want to keep confidential. We are organizers and we want to get as many people together (even if it's virtually) as possible who can show how damn hard it is in this country to get a test for this deadly virus.

Myths COVID-19 / Mitos de COVID-19 y cómo se contagia

  • It is NOT an emotional issue
  • It is not cured or prevented by garlic, magnets, crystals, herbs or vinegar
  • It is not cured by drinking hot water or tea (you would have to heat up your body to 130 degrees and that would kill you)
  • It not true that if you put the heat in the home the virus dies
