Welcome to another year at TGMS! This is an exciting week at the school welcoming back our Grade 6, 7, and 8 classes, and welcoming in the new Grade 5s. We are busy getting everyone settled in; not an easy task with most of our brains still in summer mode. I just want to let you know of a few upcoming events this month.
Registration Packages – Please fill in all the forms completely and return them to the school as soon as possible. Sorry for all the homework, parents!
Book Fair – Our first Book Fair will take place from September 21st to September 24th. This is a great way to promote literacy and provide funding for more library resources.
Open House – Our Parent Information Evening and Open House will take place Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00 p.m. We will start the evening in the gymnasium with the introduction of staff and general information about the school, followed by a tour of the school with your child. The Book Fair will also be open on this evening.
Food Allergies/Lunch Restrictions – We have a number of students this year with very serious food allergies. For this reason, the following food items cannot be brought into the building: nuts, nut products, raw shrimp, raw egg, and mango.
Parent Advisory Council – The first PAC meeting will be Tuesday September 22 at 7:00pm. The PAC Chairperson is vacant at the present time.
TGMS Weebly: Go to http://tgmstimberwolves.weebly.com/index.html for up to date information on happenings at the school (weekly plans, notes home, calendars, etc).
On a personal note, I am sorry to have to announce that I will be resigning my position with Prairie Spirit School Division effective October 2. I have been offered a position working with The Manitoba Teachers’ Society, a career that has interested me for many years. I have worked my entire education career in Thomas Greenway and could not imagine a better place to have grown and learned as an educator. The students, families, community, and staff have been such a joy to work with. I will miss you all deeply, and will come to visit--I promise! The letter on the reverse can also be found electronically on the Weebly, under Parent Notes.
In closing, all of us at TGMS look forward to another year of working with your children. It is an honour to be part of their learning journey, watching them grow in their knowledge, confidence, and citizenship.
