Magic Classroom Import Tutorial
Once you have selected to install the Add-on from the store listing you need to go to ‘Add-ons’ menu at the top and click on ‘Magic Classroom Import’ and then ‘Launch’ as shown below:
Once this has been clicked a new sidebar menu you will load as shown below:
As you can see on the right you have some drop down menus that you can use in order to select your classes from Google Classroom.
First use the ‘Select Class’ dropdown to choose the class you would like to import data from.
This will take a few seconds to load
Next use the ‘Select Assignment’ dropdown to choose the assignment you would like to import.
‘Import names’ checkbox asks you if you would like to import Full Name, First Name and Surname in with the assignment data. It is always recommended that you do this on the first assignment you pull across so you knows whos is whos.
When ready press ‘Import Assignment’
This will take up to a minute to do so please be patient
You can now import further additional assignments simply by clicking on the ‘Select Assignment’ dropdown and choosing a different assignment.
Untick ‘Import names’
Click on ‘Import Assignment’ again and just the new assignment column will be added.
This will be quicker than when you use ‘Import names’.
You can keep adding assignment grades in as many times as you like.
This is a new feature that allows you to add marks and scores to your Google Sheet (Markbook) and then export the results to Google Classroom as a new Assignment.
Using the sidebar menu you will see the options shown below. You need to select the column that contains the email addresses of the students and also the column containing the grades you would like to export. You will need to select the row that the data starts for the export. Finally you select the Google Classroom you would like to export to and press the export button.
Please note that the title of the Assignment created will be taken from Row 1 of the column you select for the ‘Grades’ option.
You will see the above pop up boxes once you have pressed export.
That should be just about it!
