Tyler Lundhagen presents

The Enemy Within

Going out to eat your food

Nothing wrong to your eyes

You have started your own doom

By eating that burger and fries

The calories course through you

Too lazy to burn them off

And, eating more as we do,

With disbelief you scoff

At the enemy already within

It all starts to begin

With the weight beneath the skin

It starts out obscure

Not noticeable at all

Still you feel the allure

Of the food’s call

You start to give in,

Not realizing the effect

Of this very deadly sin

While this goes unchecked,

The enemy already within

Already starting to grin

As it secures it’s win

At last you start to feel

What is happening inside,

You do your best to try and heal

To make the pain subside

You cannot do as much

As you could do before

But nonetheless you try to clutch

To health, still trying to win this war

But the enemy within

Knows you will not be thin

As you have no way to win

You try to exercise

Wondering why you did not before

Because the food was all a lie

Covering up what was in store

Now that all this weight

Has settled in your gut

Now you have no way

That you can try and cut

Off this weight, as the enemy within

Taking control over the din

That now controls your every whim

Why can’t food be healthy?

Why can’t food be healthy?

What’s the point of living well

If what it takes is to be wealthy

A lot of food seems to repel

People that don’t have the salary

To buy food with less calories

If food was less expensive

Then people would

Not have to be defensive

About the different goods

Choosing healthy from not

But not depending on their lot

If all food was good for you

We would not have to worry

About throwing our diets askew

When all we had was curry

Most of the stuff in our food

Is awfully unhealthy, but it does not allude

No one seems to realize

All that we eat isn’t healthy

It is all just a guise

So much food is unhealthy

It is all we can do

To not throw our health askew

Lots of food is man-made

But why are all these companies

Not coming to our aid

While we are in a state of gluttony

We are just gaining weight

Which in turn makes us abate

While we become stagnate

With no idea how to regulate

The food we ingest

So why does food have to be a pest

Just give us a rest

So we won’t have to be depressed

Of this we do not jest
