Welcome back to Term 2  and a special  welcome to our new families at Elm Park School.

We look forward to an exciting term of learning.

Important dates this term:

  • 5 May: Elm Park School birthday celebration - bring mufti clothes
  • 6 June:  Queen’s birthday
  • 13 June: Rooms 29 and 28 to Te Tuhi
  • 15 June: Rooms 17 and 18 to Te Tuhi
  • 5 July: Matariki workshop at Auckland museum
  • 7 July:  End of Term 2

Our learning focus for the term:

Our learning focus this term will be centred around the theme of celebrations and remembrances.

The Matariki workshop at the Auckland museum will add to our inquiry learning.

The visit to Te Tuhi will help us prepare for the upcoming Art Exhibition during the Jubilee celebrations.

We will be continuing with e-Portfolios as a means of keeping you up to date with your child’s learning. It would be fantastic if you post comments on your child’s blog.

Useful information

Uniforms:

Please ensure that your child is in the correct school uniform and that all items of clothing are clearly named, hat and shoes included.  All school shoes need to be plain BLACK.  Please do not buy shoes with coloured soles and laces.

Food policy:

Some children suffer from food allergies. Therefore, children are not allowed to share any food or drink with other children. Fizzy drinks, lollies/ chocolates are not allowed in school. We encourage students to bring water to school.   We do have water fountains that students can use at all times.

Being prepared for the day:

We ask for your support in ensuring that your child has brought their bookbag with homework book and reader to school each day. Remember that NO BOOKBAG means NO BOOK sent home.

It helps the children prepare for the day if they are in school before the 8.55 am bell.  Children can come into rooms when the bell rings at 8.30am.

Library:

Your child will visit the school library every week. Please ensure that the borrowed book is returned promptly, before the next visit to the library. We trust that the library books that are taken home will be looked after.

Homework:

Please spend some time every night reading with your child. Poems, readers and library books will be sent home on a regular basis. Homework will be sent home weekly.
