Snap-shot Week
Collection Development
- Created a frenzy fever during morning announcements giving away free books to those you immediately researched the answers to a research question (e.g. for the bk Voyagers by DJ McHale, the students had to research “Who discovered/invented the following: electricity, infrared light, light bulb and ultra-violet light). All books were gone within 5 minutes. Duchess' Book Giveaways It made students listen carefully and incorporated research strategies in a fun manner. However, as of lately, I’ve increased the knowledge depth in the questions and the students have struggled to find answers. I will gladly sacrifice my conference period and money to encourage reading, as countless other educators do day in/out.
- Promoted literacy through various BOOK TRAILERS Dork Diaries, The Hula-Hoopin' Queen and Rutabaga: The Adventure Chef to entice more reluctant readers.
