- Model “seeing” for children placing my hands around my eyes as imaginary binoculars.
- Ask: What do you use your eyes for? What special tool helps you observe? (hand lens)
- Have the children use a hand lens to observe a leaf.
- Have the children answer the following questions: What color is the leaf? What body part helped you see the color of the leaf? What would happen if you did not have eyes?

- Have a volunteer build a tower blind folded. Then have him see what he built.
- Have another student build a tower without the blindfold.
- How did your eye helped you build the tower? How do our eyes help do? What happens when you are not able to see what you are doing?
