Team 70 Linden Tournament 2016

Tournament Notes:

Day One:

     The first day of the Linden tournament is over and Team 70 had a great day. In game one they came away with a 14 - 13 victory over the Strike force. It was a complete team victory as all players contributed to the win.

     The second game was not going team 70’s way going into the the 7th inning. Team 70 was down 6 runs. The bats then came alive as they scored 8 runs to take the lead going into the bottom of the 7th with Strike Force coming up to bat. Team 70’s defense would not break as they held them to just 1 run to come away with a 11 - 10 victory and go 2 - 0 on the tournament.

Day Two:

     Day 2 started off with a great offensive and defensive game. Team 70 scored 24 runs and held the olds Fossils to 4 runs. Stan Aberle threw a runner out from right centre field, and Howard Gehring had a in the park home run. Vern Herter brought in 3 runs on a Triple to give us 5 in the second.

     The bats stayed hot to win 12-4 over the Calgary Eagles to win the gold! Everyone played well defensively. Keith Bender made an awesome double play. Ernie Ambrosi, playing rover, made a great jumping catch to end the game. Also on the offence side Rod Roden hit a couple off the fence. Gord Deibert hit hard to bounce one over the fence for a double.
