Shabbat at our Home
Shabbat is a little different for every family. So our class is putting together a book about our Shabbat celebrations. Each student and family is creating one page of the book to share. The page can be decorated as you wish, but should include how you celebrate Shabbat and what makes Shabbat special in your home. You can use words, drawings, pictures or some combination of the above. Please do NOT take photos on Shabbat itself, though photos of preparations are fine.
Please bring the page back this coming Sunday, September 14th if at all possible. We plan to share our pages as a class on Sunday.
Example, for Morah Elishaeva:
Then there were 2….. With our sons away at college our Shabbat is usually a quiet, almost romantic time for my husband and me. We light candles and share wine and homemade Challah. Sometimes we still try new foods on Shabbat, as we did when the boys were little. They always liked the excitement when we uncovered a new taste for Shabbat and recited Sheheheeyanu. Mango and kiwi went over well and became regulars for us. Artichokes didn’t. But it helped make Shabbat dinner more special and unique for us.
