Forest Height STEM Middle School Guest
Barbara Kirkpatrick -Principal, Laura Gawan -STEM coordinator, Lillian -student, Cristen Barnett- Technology Coordinator, Brandon -Middle School AP Randi Tanner -GT coordinator Forest Height is part of LRSD. It is a Stem school so you do have to apply to go to this school. Open enrollment starts in December. They came by to share with FP about Forest Heights and all it has to offer from STEM to Fine Arts to academic. They are a uniform school. Typically 50 spots for entering 6th grade. Can follow Forest Heights on IG and Facebook. Tours can be given any day of the week just contact principal.
Southern Supper success made almost $6,000.
Pay your dues for all clubs at the beginning of month and put your childs name and club you are paying for.

Teacher meeting is this coming Monday. Snacks are taken care of for this meeting. Be sure to check sign up genius in eblast for a chance to help out with supplying snacks.

Fall Preview pumpkins going out this weekend to prospective FP families. Encourage prospective families to come to Fall Preview in Nov. This is an evening event and childcare is provided.
Contact Kami with anything that needs to be added to eblast.
She is finalizing the directory and it should be out soon.

⅔ school registered for Fun Run. Working on ideas to get everyone registered. First wave of prizes going out today (free dress pass)
Tiffany O’Brien designed banners. Plan to get those hung today.
Kelsey explained that on the day of the Fun Run all students come out and run/walk around the school as a fun celebration for all their hard work.
Meeting today after PTA meeting. Collecting thought and ideas to be more inclusive.
Costume Drive starting today. The Student Council to head this up. Grace will get boxes out today to start collecting costumes.
Will partner with CALS for canned food drive in Nov.
Outreach wants to make sure all Kindergartners have a class of T-shirt for field trip will have teachers reach out with children who might be in need of a shirt
Behavior problems in clubs. Plan to talk with Mr. Hanson about having some parent involvement to help with behavior in clubs (possibly add this to Ranger Watch Duty)
Will continue to explore foreign language (Spanish) in the classroom. Currently will only be able to add 15min per class per week. This is also very costly and will be paid for through the PTA (maybe look into finding a retired foreign language teacher) Have been gathering additional info from other schools on how they fit Spanish into class schedule.
Parent idea is having a foreign language club through CALS. Will look more into this and could possibly be added into library time.
If you see a weed pull a weed
Art in Park (Thursday Feb 20th) This is a fun adult event off campus with an art auction. Reach out if you want to be a part of this committee. Scouting venues and art ideas for classes to do this year. Will need a lot of parent involvement with this event.
Would love help with the chickens. Sign up genius in eblast. You do get to keep all eggs collected during your duty and you get the reserved parking spot in front of school while on duty.
Nov 5th chicken name election since it will be election day
More info coming. Madeline to look at numbers and see where they are on things All 5th grade students will go in the spring
MUST SEE ART at the end of the First Grade Hallway.. Ms. Cook had all students draw/design things they see on a road trip.
Katie Bruhl mom to Hadley who is Student Council President. Katie will be the lead parent for Student Council. They will have their first meeting next Wednesday. Reach out to Student Council if any committee is needing help.
Students have been doing IA assessments with the chromebook: yesterday reading, today math, and next week is writing.
