Notes:

First time brewing. Recipe was Cincinati Pale Ale from John Palmer’s “How to Brew”. We chose the hops. We waited for the water to reboil (after putting in extract), which caused the long biol. Forgot to add the wort chiller, so we boiled 10 extra minutes too. Dumped extract bucket in wort to get the last bit out, probably a mistake. Vigorous fermentation within 24 hours caused top of bucket to blow off twice. Scooped krausen from blown top back into bucket. Should have used a blow-off tube. No foam at all when boiling wort, which made us believe we needed more heat. Had little to no boil off (1/4 gal tops). Rehydrated yeast, and accidentally used two packets.

Tasting Notes:

A very good first brew. It was received well by others. It was probably a little too bitter due to the extra time all of our hop additions had, and we also transferred all the hops to the fermenting bucket.
