For the rest of the document, we won’t mention all the teams except if there’s synergy/twitter tech to highlight.
We go from top row to the lowest row, from highest synergy in the row to least.
Either you synergise well with Makoto or the character literally carries Makoto while still functioning at a basic level.

The team is nice but nothing very spooky like unblockables or resets all day. It’s just that Mai can use Makoto to run low/high mix with conversions from everything and Makoto loves Mai assists to run mix or solve her neutral.

Good buttons that really helps in a lot of MU, Ruby could use better assists though to get an even bigger impact in neutral.
Makoto likes Ruby 6P and 4P.
Yumi has busted damage.
Makoto like Yumi 6P.
Do you need more than be able to convert of IOH j.B with assist?
Nine functions really well with an assist that causes blockstun, which Makoto provides. You will still need to learn Nine before using her full potential and then realize you don’t need Makoto assists and move to another team.
Makoto is not the best fit for all teams to allow them to express themselves to the fullest but it can still be good.

Akihiko has busted damage but doesn’t provide a projectile assist like Yumi because he uses himself as the projectile.
Akihiko has viable solo mix but could really use better assists to cover himself.
Akihiko can convert off 236A+6P so good enough

Good buttons, great character but not as degenerate as Nine or Ruby.
Because Makoto doesn’t have a cmd grab, it’s not making use of Carmine wheel assist unblockable so you may want to look into other teams if you want more from Carmine.
Carmine may want a character that can care of themselves alone in case he needs to heal up. Makoto sort of provides that but there’s cleary better options.
Hilda suffers in many MU and Makoto doesn’t help at all. However, Hilda still is a polarizing character, just like Yosuke.
We are getting into the “can still function somewhat” territory and the starts having MU non-negligeable MU issues.
You have power charge combo confirms but will you get a hit though?
Adachi has better partners. Still, slapping a high tier character with anyone is a respectable strategy.
Low damage but one of the strongest assist kit. Synergy with Makoto is probably basic since she enables 214B+4P mixup.
Good character, can convert of IOH j.B with Makoto assists but not droit+6P which means poor synergy.

I strongly believe in their synergy. However, I believe their MU spread is not good enough to make it a main team.

236A can let Makoto in but since Makoto 6P isn’t fullscreen anymore since 1.5, it isn’t as effective as it once was.
You can still pickup by activating CC
236B+C super and BBS dhc can lead to a true string, also, Makoto is “in” for 4 bars.
You have double fang unblockable setups.
There’s still some spooky shit like corner steal off Naoto vacuum 5P

The question is: would Makoto let Noel in? With less risk than a projectile assist? Or obnoxious hitboxes? Well no.
I’ve heard Plat needs 31f blockstun assist for pan mix.

I saw once an attempt at crossup dp with Mika 6P, looked bad though.

As long as 4P can loop in itself (2.00 patch tried to remove that btw but Makoto got overlooked), there exists combos where Yukiko can get up to 8 firelevels without sacrificing much dmg in the combo: video example
