Over the last few months, Udacity held career development workshops over Google Hangouts On Air for Nanodegree students which were recorded and written up afterwards. These events are tailored to Nanodegree students and will provide you with the soft skills and industry insight needed to advance your career. Stand Out with LinkedIn

Technical know-how is crucial to advancing your career, but no one will know about all of your valuable skills until you tell the world about them. Join Jason Wong, Technical Recruiter at Udacity, and Francois DuFour, VP of Marketing and former  Sr. Director of Marketing, Talent Solutions at LinkedIn as they share tips on how to make your LinkedIn profile showcase the true, awesome you so that you can effectively market yourself to potential employers and colleagues. This recorded session is already available to give you a head start!

Resume Revamp

Join Udacity's former Director of Talent Mel Setzo and the Udacity team to learn about the building blocks of a strong technical resume. This workshop will help you edit your resume to more accurately reflect your skills, background, and career trajectory, so that it can continue to evolve as you progress through the nanodegree.

The second half of the event will be a hands-on workshop, where students can get an in-depth look at how a recruiter or hiring manager evaluates an applicant based on their resume.

Git and GitHub

With two projects under your belt and some initial experience with version control, it’s time to become a GitHub master. Learn how engineers use GitHub on the job every day so you can adopt their habits and best practices.

Informational Interviews

Ever wonder what it’s like to do a different job? There’s nothing like talking to a person who actually has that job to find out! Informational interviews will give you first-hand insight from experts as you prepare to either launch your next career or shift roles within your company or industry. Join us to learn how to set up, prepare for, and make the most of your time in informational interviews.

Hiring Manager Q&A

Is the hiring process a mystery? What do interviewers look for in the ideal candidate? We will be welcoming guests who are pros in the industry and recruit candidate for a living. They will be giving an overview of the process while answering any questions you might have for them in an informal setting.

Researching Industries

Join us on Thursday, March 19 at 4:00PM PST for our upcoming career development event, Researching Industries! Udacity's Android program manager Jennie Kim and full stack engineer Lindsey Smith will guide you through the process of researching companies that will excite you and advance your career goals. We will learn about casting a broad net while also understanding when and how to narrow down companies, departments and roles when searching for the right job.

Extending Your Network

At least 70% of jobs are never published. How do you find out about them? Your network is the powerful tool that will help you get closer to the dream job. Your fellow students will be the cornerstone of your professional network of front-end web developers. As you connect with instructors and experts through the program, we will also equip you with tools you can use to build your network further. This session will help you get started, provide tips on growing and sustaining the network while also giving up to build credibility.

I’m ready for a job! Now what?

Now that you have your resume, LinkedIn, and GitHub are lined up, how do you search for a job? We will go over the various pathways you can take to find a job, research the roles and get your foot in the door. You will learn to use all the tools you have aced through the program to get you closer to the dream job.

Acing Your Interviews

The interview might be the most nerve-racking part of the job search process. Whether your interview is via phone, video or in person, we will help you rock it! We will cover a general overview including: preparing for the interview, what to wear, asking the right questions and follow up, and  then move to a Q&A panel with industry developers and data analysts so you can ask about specific preparation and techniques to help you go in confidently into your next interview.

Negotiating Your Salary

You may have a job offer at hand or are working towards one. How do you walk out knowing you have secured the ideal offer and are being valued right. We will help you research the right salary, compensation and other benefits to be able to negotiate the best possible package for yourself.
