Name: Cassandra Samar (Viper)
Age/Date of Birth: Early 30s
Prospective Job: Director of SHIELD, WSC pawn, HYDRA's femme fatale--literally, she's quite fatal
SHIELD: Samar ran the Phoenix Project, a HYDRA affiliated agency intent on surveilling SHIELD and Tesseract refugees. She's very interested in SHIELD. >D
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Medium: Movies
Canon point: Current
Arrival Date: 23 March 2014
PB: I'm kind of leaning towards:
Shannyn Sossamon -- The only descriptions of her I had in game were that her hair was "moss brown in the light" and the fact that Samar's pit viper is southeast asian so maybe she could be. Anyway, green hair would be kinda obvious, right?
Personality: 616--Ophelia Sarkissian * 616--Val de Fontaine * Wolverine--Doctor Green
"We were orphans. Little girls, all alone. Hydra gave us a home. Eight great houses. Twelve girls to a house. And in the end, the most determined... the most abmitious... the most aggressive... That girl would be the Viper. All it cost was everything. I have been married to a man I hated. I could not marry the man I loved. I betrayed him. And I was betrayed in turn. Then I was murdered. Death, welcome and well - deserved. But Hydra, it seems, will never be done with me... To live, and die and live again."
Viper is a career member of HYDRA. She's cutthroat, cruel, and cultishly devoted to HYDRA. She's one of those comic examples of the female of the species.
Her prime objective is to HYDRA's global domination. This includes taking down SHIELD, its leadership, and anyone who opposes it. She deals ruthlessly with enemies or those who disrespect her, von Strucker, or HYDRA. She believes in making examples of people. If anything, her fatal flaw is her temper. (or borderline questionable sanity)
She has a sharp temper and is easily riled, but remember that this is the woman who was the public face of a charity for a year before she was taken down. She can smile and play nice and turn on the charm if it's to her advantage. This occupation of SHIELD will likely not be that time. She's cold, superior, and sharp and won't be looking to make friends. She'll speak cryptically if at all about HYDRA's plans. However, she'll speak openly about its superiority if pressed. This is not from the start, but, in the final confrontation, what villain can resist monologuing?
Viper's unafraid of using any tool in her arsenal, seduction being high among them. She takes pleasure in herself and in her power, and can enjoy games of cat and mouse just as much as the actual pounce.
She's an idealogue, who fully buys into HYDRA's mythology. She can be equal parts mad prophetess as she can be brutal femme fatale. However, she's less apt than the boys to kill herself, because she can and will take down any threat. Consider her HYDRA's answer to Black Widow. She's a devotee, intolerant of disparaging remarks or disrespect to HYDRA.
Before that, try to just keep her as a calculating, dominant, cold presence. She has no reason to care about the refugees except that they might be of use to HYDRA, and the same with SHIELD. They're equally likely to be a thorn in its side. HYDRA is her number one priority. She could be flipped against the WSC if they were shown to be detrimental to HYDRA's goals, but even so, she wouldn't be an ally.
In Game History:
She has a history. Maybe some adaptations from Sarkissian's but she's not 90 years old. I'd expect her to be more aging in real time, but who knows, cause she's not saying. She was recruited to HYDRA and tasked with keeping an eye on SHIELD and the Tesseract. Then Refugees appeared and things got interesting.
Phoenix Project:
4 May 2013--Organizational meeting
11 May 2013--Groundbreaking Brooklyn site 2
25 June 2013--Phoenix Project silent auction
June 2013--Nick Fury (616) sends Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Matt Murdock, and
Natasha Romanova to investigate a German Pharmaceutical company, Phoenix
Pharmahandel. They discover funds being transferred to several unlabelled
accounts. One in Boston to William Lee.
July 2013--Nick Fury and Jessica Drew investigate the bank in Boston, Logan Howlett
and Bucky Barnes (MCU) investigate the bank in Japan. Both come up to what
appears to be dead ends--for now.
28 July 2013--Phoenix Project encounters a zoning issue in their new community garden
8 August 2013--Ben Stone does some investigating and finds something fishy. Alerts a
bucket of Sherlock Holmeses.
6 September 2013--Phoenix Project moves in to repair damage on the building next to
Potts Tower. What nice people. :)
6 September 2013--C. Samar writes a rebuttal supporting refugees in the NYT
18 October 2013--Sherlock Homes (a bunch of them) stage a break-in at Phoenix
Project's 59th street headquarters. This is "broken up" by Tony Stark (616), though the bad guys "get away." They conveniently leave financial documents to be found amongst the evidence.
21 October 2013--Several missing people from Hurricane Sandy are found working at
the Phoenix Project's office. PP reps suggest that they preferentially hire from Phoenix Project temporary housing.
7 October -- William Lee, a beneficiary of Phoenix Pharmahandel's money laundering
schemes, is found to be an accountant for the Phoenix Project. Further research links this to some of the Phoenix Project's accounting incongruencies.
11 October -- Cells Two and Eight prepare an early morning raid on the Phoenix Project's 59th street headquarters and Staten Island Warehouse. Cells Three, Seven, and Six are sent to secure the Phoenix Project housing sites. [Details to come]
Log of a fight with Nick Fury / post-mortem of Phoenix Project raid
Cassandra Samar was arrested on 11 October, questioned, revealed little, and was incarcerated at Rykers. She was broken out with the November breakout and returned to HYDRA where she's been with the organization as they began ramping up to take over SHIELD.
Within the organization, Samar is the highest ranking female officers. She's more representative of New HYDRA which has corporate interests and approaches things like an executive rather than WWII era HYDRA which was more soldiers.
She could possibly be a lover of von Strucker (but the MCU one).
Special abilities:
Venom immunity
Wears envenomed fangs that can deliver a toxic bite.
Exceptional unarmed combat (kali wala)
Weapons proficiency
Has a squadron of HYDRA soldiers at her beck and call and the WSC on her side.
What she can and can't do:
This plot's really pretty open-ended and Samar will be a lot more reactive I feel to what SHIELD agents do or don't do. So just keep in mind that she needs to be at the helicarrier for the fight on the 28th. and the Coulson and Safehouse orders and you should be fine. :)
