The Role

The Business Developer at Erudition has one primary objective: to identify companies that need to invest in their people, demonstrate the value of a Learning Partnership, and secure the engagement. This is a high-performance role for an individual who is motivated by targets rather than just a job description.

Contract Terms

  • Contract Type: Full time contract with a 3-month probation period
  • Compensation: ₦600,000 monthly (+ fixed sales commission)
  • Work Mode: Hybrid, Lagos-based with remote flexibility

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who understands corporate environments and how decisions are made. The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in B2B sales, account management, or business development with a focus on corporate clients.
  • Sector Knowledge: Previous experience working with or selling to HR personnel, Learning and Development, or senior leadership teams.
  • Skills: Strong verbal skills and the ability to articulate value effectively using a consultative approach.
  • Context: Familiarity with the Africa corporate landscape and existing contacts within mid-to-large African companies.
  • Mindset: A persistent and professional attitude with a provable track record of hitting specific revenue or engagement targets.

Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Generation: Identify and qualify corporate prospects with 50 or more employees, structured HR functions, and active people development mandates.
  • Outreach: Execute outbound calls, emails, LinkedIn engagement, and in-person visits to initiate conversations with decision-makers.
  • Discovery: Run structured discovery conversations to understand an organisation's talent landscape, operational friction points, and performance gaps before pitching.
  • Proposal Presentation: Clearly and compellingly explain the Erudition Learning Partnership in under five minutes, adapting the pitch to both HR Managers and CEOs.
  • Closing: Manage the sales cycle to get the agreement signed and the deposit paid.
  • Accountability: Manage your own pipeline, tracking and reporting on systems weekly without the need for constant supervision.
