  1. THE STORY

At the beginning…

Paris, nowadays.

At the Jean de la Hire college,Marinette is secretly in love withAdrien. He is so talented, so smart, and handsome of course! His handicap ? That little hobble when he walks with his cane? She finds it too endearing! But since she's as intimidated by him as he is serious, things seem to be off to a bad start!

And yet, on the occasion of Adrien's birthday, Marinette manages to lure him into the incredible boutique ofGrandfather Fu under some preposterous pretext.

Oh sure, from the outside it looks like a junk gift shop, run by the man everyone in Belleville ironically calls "the old fool." But in the back room, normally locked (but, hee hee, Marinette has a double!), it's a veritable Ali-Baba's cave.

There, she intends to offer a gift to Adrien, and above all to declare her love to him.

What could be more romantic than a secret rendezvous with the scent of the forbidden, in the middle of a bric-a-brac of extraordinary objects, among which a glass globe that emits a soft glow...

Galvanized by the magic of the moment, her heart pounding, Marinette musters up her courage and... Adrien's phone rings. His mother, terribly worried, told him to come home as soon as possible. Their butler sets off immediately to pick him up.

Adrien hangs up, apologizes to Marinette and leaves, leaving her alone in the shop.

She didn't even have time to give him his gift! Annoyed, Marinette casually tosses the small package onto the cluttered counter.

What didn't she do there? With her usual bad luck, she causes disaster: the package bounces off a clock, which in turn knocks down a row of books like dominoes...and soon, an unlikely chain reaction turns the whole back room upside down. , until the glowing orb falls and shatters into a million pieces!

Particles of light escape from it, like tiny fireflies. One of them will lodge in the ladybug earrings that Marinette is wearing, the others will scatter through all possible exits.

While Marinette, in a panic, tries to erase all traces of her passage, Adrien waits for the family sedan. He does not see that, behind his back, luminous particles are escaping from the air ducts of the building, and that one of them is lodged in his signet ring with a cat's head...

At night, Marinette gazes at the moon from her bedroom window. Tomorrow, she will meet Adrien in art class. She signed up so she could hang out with him, but she feels she's going to make herself look ridiculous again. The music ? As soon as she touches an instrument, she lets out a quack. Theater ? Stage fright paralyzes her as soon as she tries to play. The drawing ? Last time, we mistook his portrait for a still life! Definitely, she always misses everything she does... What a disappointment for Marinette.

She would like so much to be able to create beautiful things with her hands, things that would bring happiness around her.

At the same time, Adrien is still studying by the light of his desk lamp, but he can't stop thinking about his escapade with Marinette. It was fun! But no, he has to concentrate. He must think only of his goal: to become a great scientist, and to find a solution to regain his agility of yesteryear, when he was still only a young daredevil, on his BMX. Go back to the gym, skate!

Has anyone managed to find a solution to cure his leg? Anything can be fixed, like he used to fix his bike! He is convinced of it, and he will prove it!

While each on their side, they formulate their wishes aloud, Marinette's earrings and Adrien's signet ring light up.

Awakened by the wishes that the college students have formulated, two strange creatures come out of the jewels like a genie from a lamp.

They introduce themselves: Marinette gets acquainted with Tikki, and Adrien with Plagg.

They are Kwamis, magical creatures that help humans fulfill their wishes.

Each on their side, the two college students learn that the Kwamis have given them a power corresponding to what they carry deep in their hearts. Now, when they activate their respective jewels by a magic spell, they will transform: Marinette will be able to create energy "sculptures", while Adrien will not only become able-bodied, hyper-agile again, but will also be able to repair or transform everything it touches!

For example, Marinette will be able to "sculpt" wings of light that will allow her to fly.

As for Adrien, he can twist a lamp post into arabesques just by putting his hand on it.

The next day, Marinette sees Grandpa Fu panicking in the back room. He can no longer find his glass globe: "If the globe is stolen, it's the biggest disaster since the extinction of the dinosaurs!" »

To reassure him, and especially because she is unable to lie for more than three seconds, Marinette admits to him that she broke it. She shows him the place where she hid the shards.

Grandfather Fu explains to her the significance of what happened: the glass globe was actually an ancient orb that housed strange creatures called Kwamis (Marinette then understands where this magical creature that appeared the last day before). However, the Kwamis can give humans the power to grant their wishes (that, she knew). Dangerous, too dangerous in the wrong hands! (However, she hadn't thought of that at all!)

Grandfather Fu was the guardian of the Orb. But he failed in his mission and his predecessors. Now the Kwamis are scattered in the wild.

Who knows what disasters could happen?

What dishonor!

What to do ?

Marinette is dedicated. She promises him to bring all the Kwamis back! It's up to her to fix her stupidity. That she won't miss!

And Marinette transforms in front of Grandfather Fu: dressed in a costume in the colors of the ladybug, her favorite animal, she makes wings of light appear on her back, and soars proudly into the sky...

Grandfather Fu regains hope when he sees his little protege so determined. Proudly brandishing his tube of glue, he goes to repair the orb by doing katas...

From now on, there are hundreds of Kwamis on the loose in Paris who will take possession of objects. Neither good nor bad, the Kwamis will only help people get what they want. But if people want bad things, then beware of the consequences!

Luckily, the superheroine Ladybug - that's a killer name, huh? – will be there to search, find and capture the Kwamis, avert disasters, save Paris and its inhabitants, and return the Kwamis to a safe place, out of the reach of ill-intentioned people.

For her first outing, Ladybug meets a boy in a cat costume jumping from roof to roof with extraordinary agility. Along the way, he has fun transforming the tops of buildings into brick and zinc gardens. At the touch of his black-gloved hand, chimneys deconstruct, satellite dishes twist, and become stone trees and metal flowers!

Convinced of having found a first Kwami to recover, Ladybug intercepts the boy. She asks him to give up his Kwamin, and therefore his power. We have no idea to put such a mess on the roofs of the capital!

But Cat Noir, as he insists on calling himself, refuses. It's so cool what's happening to him! Returning Kwami is out of the question! That's right, Marinette can't understand how amazing it is for Cat Noir/Adrien to be able to run, jump again...

He runs away. She chases him. After a frenzied chase, Ladybug manages to corner him.

A fight between the ladybug and the black cat begins, but that's when another person appears transformed by a Kwami. This time, he's a much fiercer and tougher villain than Cat Noir! Besides, he attacks Ladybug and Cat Noir indifferently, thinking that they are both against him.(Ed: Villains, like Cat Noir and Ladybug have super villain costumes reflecting their power.)

By force of circumstance, Ladybug and Cat Noir are forced to fight this first villain together.

Marinette then understands that Cat Noir will not misuse his powers and that he can be of some help to her. But out of the question to collaborate with him... he's not his type at all!

Marinette turns out to be a real superheroine, far more dexterous in costume than in real life; while the serious Adrien transformed into Cat Noir becomes the cheerful and reckless boy he once was.

They will live many adventures, but also a real romance. Because Cat Noir will fall in love with Ladybug. But unfortunately for him, her heart is already taken. If only he knew that the one Marinette loves is none other than himself, Adrien, but without the Cat Noir costume!

Our two heroes will have the opportunity to realize that, while many people transformed by the Kwamis turn out to be terrible threats, some, sometimes, can become allies.

  1. THE HEROES

MARINETTE CHENG, alias LADYBUG

Marinette Eastthe heroine from the Serie. ThereMagical Girl.

HD SSD:Users:jeremyzag:Desktop:Screen Shot 2012-05-11 at 1.46.53 AM.png

Marinette is an enthusiastic, positive schoolgirl who always sees the bright side of things. She has only one flaw: she can't lie.

Like a fairy tale princess, Marinette likes to solve people's problems, even if sometimes she is the one who starts by causing disasters! Yes, because Marinette has a slight tendency towards clumsiness and bad luck. Sometimes this undermines her self-confidence, but she always regains her enthusiasm. Because she always ends up fixing things and offering happiness around her.

Marinette is of Chinese descent. Born in Paris, she feels French more than anything else, but that doesn't stop her from eating spaghetti with chopsticks!

Marinette lives with her father Tom and her mother Sabine. They tend to overprotect her. Even if it annoys her, Marinette wouldn't stop them for anything in the world, for fear of hurting her.

They live in an apartment belonging toGrandfather Fu, an old eccentric who runs a gift shop downstairs. In exchange, Marinette prepares her meals and cleans her up.

Marinette is very athletic, she practices Kung Fu with her uncle, and rhythmic gymnastics at school. But his persistent clumsiness earned him the jeers of his comrades and many bruises!

Marinette is very gifted for everything that is literary. Conversely, science subjects do not succeed him: because of his bad luck and his clumsiness, his experiments in TP always fail, and everything related to computers breaks down! Luckily her best friendAlya is here to help out...

When Marinette Becomes Ladybug…

HD SSD:Users:jeremyzag:Desktop:Screen Shot 2012-05-11 at 1.48.03 AM.png

The Kwami Tikki lodged in the girl's favorite pair of earrings: this is what allows them to be in communication. If Marinette isn't wearing her earrings, she can't see Tikki anymore.

Marinette wants to fix the clumsiness she committed in breaking the Orb. She is aware that if the kwamis fall into the wrong hands, it could cause disasters.

When Marinette wants to transform into a heroine, she must "light up" her earrings by pressing them and "activate" them by reciting a magic formula.

This magic formula is like a password to prevent the earrings from being misused if someone other than Marinette gets hold of them.

If Marinette lost her earrings, she would no longer be able to transform.

Once the earrings are activated, Marinette transforms.

In a flash of light, her hair grows and tints!

Like her favorite animal, the ladybug, a red costume with black dots completely covers her!

Finally, a mask completes his outfit and protects his identity!

She becomes…Ladybug!

Ladybug's Powers...

Any human who finds himself endowed with magical powers thanks to a Kwami sees his natural faculties increased.

When she becomes Ladybug, Marinette is another girl. Less shy, lucky, never clumsy, and more serious too, no doubt the weight of the responsibilities of such a power, and the danger of its missions.

Ladybug can shoot energy particles from bugets attached to her hands. She can instantly "sculpt" this energy. It's as if she could conjure up any object she can imagine in her hand! Of course, at first her sculptures will be perfectible, but the more she practices, the more impressive her powers will become.

F:\LadyBug\Visuels\LAdyBug power

With the help of Tikki, Ladybug develops several "sculptures" through her bugets:

F:\LadyBug\Visuels\bugets 1.png

F:\LadyBug\Visuels\Bugsaber.png

F:\LadyBug\Visuels\Bugsbom.png

But beware, this power is linked to his state of mind, she can't do whatever she wants: first she must learn tomaster his power, Moreoverit depends on his emotions.Anger, fear, or doubt render his sculptures ineffective.

For example, if she is troubled by fear, she may want to carve a sword, but it will remain soft like overcooked spaghetti!

The Marinette/Adrien Relationship…

Visiting the college's art room for the first time, Marinette was captivated by some of the works on display. And this poignant music, where did it come from?

She met the one who was behind it all: Adrien, sitting at the piano. She fell in love.

Unlike other more superficial girls, it was neither Adrien's beauty nor wealth that made her capsize, but his sensitivity, and the fact that he was ready to do anything to make his dreams come true.

She still finds it a bit of a shame that he does not enjoy life a little more, fully immersed in his studies. So, there you have it, that will be his mission: to make him smile or laugh at least once a day!

Problem, he impresses her so much that she becomes very shy and blunders.

To be able to spend time with him, she enrolled in art classes. Too bad if she's super dumb! Who knows, because of this, maybe one day Adrien will fall in love with her!

Since their escapade in Grandfather Fu's shop, Marinette feels that Adrien has changed. He is more distant, even more mysterious. Of course, she doesn't know why (but we do, her Cat Noir power intoxicates her somewhat…)

The Ladybug / Cat Noir Relationship…

Ladybug must recover ALL the Kwamis, if she has the opportunity, she will try to recover Cat Noir's as well (even if it means hesitating and letting it escape when he is at her mercy). The latter will play with panache, having fun with this relationship of seduction between her, the determined heroine and him, the heroic "bad boy".

Apparently he fell in love with her. Those constant glances, those repeated sweet words... How annoying! Besides he always wants to help her, it might be nice if he were a little more serious... but you talk about a swagger this Chat Noir!

Well, indeed, when he saves her by catching her in his arms or when they succeed in a mission together, she sometimes feels like everything...

But out of the question to give in to his advances! Her first kiss will be for Adrien and no one else.

If only Adrien could be as enterprising as Cat Noir….

His stakes in the series…

-Free humans driven "crazy" by the power of the Kwamis.

-Capture the Kwamis and put them back in the Orb.

-Preserve his secret identity.

-Winning Adrien's heart.

ADRIEN NANTY, alias CHAT NOIR

Adrien is thehero, thePrince Charming.

HD SSD:Users:jeremyzag:Desktop:Screen Shot 2012-05-11 at 1.49.04 AM.png

Adrien is a classmate of Marinette. While Marinette is playful, sympathetic and enthusiastic, Adrien is dark and willingly sarcastic. As much as she can sometimes doubt herself, not always succeeding in what she undertakes, he has total confidence in him, succeeding in everything with disarming ease.

He's handsome, smart, talented, and rich. Suffice to say that he seems to have everything going for him and that he does not leave the girls of the college indifferent, Marinette the first. Which stirs up the jealousy of the boys.

But he doesn't care because he is entirely focused on his goal: to become a great scientist, and find a solution to his leg problem.

Indeed, when he was younger, Adrien had an accident. Since then, he can no longer move without a cane. Adrien never complains: his cane, his injury, that's how it is, it's part of him, his look and he plays with it. When he sits casually with a cane over his shoulder, how classy!

So much so that those who don't know might think he's playing dandy and that the cane is just for looks.

Either way, he would hate to be pitied, and thanks to his sharp wit, he would easily put anyone who dared to mock him in his place.

However, even if he does not let it show, Adrien would like to regain all of his physical means. Because before his accident, he was a daredevil who loved extreme sports. And that, he misses a lot.

Especially when he has to watch other people play football from the sidelines. Oh sure, to deceive him, he always has the right little commentary to explain what a stupid sport it is, but in reality he is nostalgic for the time when he would have slammed five goals in the game. 'opposing team.

Adrien therefore threw himself headlong into studies. So far no one has found a way to cure it yet? Never mind ! He will become the greatest scientist in the world and thus will be able to heal himself and those who are in his situation. And nothing will distract him from his goal!

The only hobby he allows himself: art. And he excels at it! Indeed, Adrien is so brilliant that he has an almost instinctive understanding of the slightest instrument that comes to hand. Let him take a brush, he will paint in a sublime way. Let him sit behind a piano, and he will improvise divine melodies.

But again, no waste of time compared to the goal he has set himself. It's not about having fun, but about exercising your hands!

(Note: When Adrien walks, he limps slightly. When he sits or stands, he takes very cool poses. His disability will never be a source of self-pity. This would weaken the character and give a condescending image of disability. On the contrary, Adrien is a strong character, who has class, likeCaptain Harlock, and gives a positive image of diversity, as the slammer Grand Corps Malade can do.)

Adrien lives in a luxurious mansion with his butler. Her father and mother are always on a business trip, somewhere in the world.

When Adrien Becomes Cat Noir…

HD SSD:Users:jeremyzag:Desktop:Screen Shot 2012-05-11 at 1.50.07 AM.png

The Kwami Plagg lodged in his signet ring: this is what allows them to be in communication. If Adrien doesn't wear it, he can't see Plagg anymore.

When Adrien wants to become a hero, he must "light up" his ring by turning its eye, and "activate" it by reciting a magic formula. This magic formula is like a password to prevent the signet ring from being misused if someone other than Adrien seizes it.

If Adrien lost her, he wouldn't be able to transform anymore.

Once the ring is activated, Adrien transforms.

In a flash of light, her hair grows and tints!

Like his favorite animal, the cat, a black costume completely covers him!

Finally, a mask completes his outfit and protects his identity!

He becomes…Black cat !

Black Cat Powers…

Any human who finds himself endowed with magical powers thanks to a Kwami sees his natural faculties increased.

Adrien is no longer handicapped by his leg when he becomes Cat Noir. No more need for his cane! He is endowed with incredible agility. He sees in the dark. Hears everything from miles away. He perceives minute variations of odors. In short, all his senses are heightened.

Imagine that Adrien lives again as Cat Noir, being able to move freely again. For nothing in the world he would want to lose this Kwami and the faculties they offer him.

In Chat Noir, the serious and dark Adrien becomes exuberant again, hot-headed, always ready to have fun and go for it. He regains his personality from before his accident. Transformed, it has the power to repair and transform, "reconfigure" everything it touches. If he puts his hand on the ground of a street, he can create a wave of asphalt on which he can surf. If he touches a wall, he can bend it to form a cage that will imprison the villain. Cool, right?

But beware, his power does not work on what is organic. And it is related to his state of mind: langer, fear, or doubt renders his power ineffective. For example, if he's offended by a remark from Ladybug, no matter how much he tries to twist a lamp post to catch a bad guy, the lamp post will just fall apart.

As with Ladybug, the more he exercises, the more he will master his powers, which will become more and more impressive.

The Cat Noir/Ladybug Relationship…

Adrien wants to keep his powers at all costs. He will therefore do everything to make himself indispensable to Ladybug.

As Cat Noir, Adrien allows himself to do what he normally wouldn't: move, have fun, and even... fall in love!

He fell in love with this mysterious Ladybug, she is so amazing! She shows such great courage. Only with her can he experience great adventures while finally feeling like himself!

Cat Noir has therefore given himself a new mission: to help Ladybug fight the bad guys, despite herself! That way, maybe he will manage to seduce her and dissuade her from taking back her Kwami. Because without Kwami, he would be deprived of his powers and his newfound agility.

Well, his attempts to seduce Ladybug seem doomed to fail miserably and she doesn't always look very happy when he helps her. But whatever. If there is one quality that is his, it is perseverance!

He wants to show Ladybug that she needs him, that without his help she won't make it. He promises her that he will give her back her Kwami when she captures all the others. Of course, this is false, he has no intention of doing so. But the important thing is the game of seduction.

The Adrien / Marinette Relationship

Adrien seems to have no interest in girls. It's a waste of time. Either way, they are really too superficial!

Except Marinette who seems really interested in him and his art.

Sure, she's cute as hell, and her clumsy attempts to get his attention make her touching, but he can't let himself be deflected from his goal. Studies first!

Anyway, now his heart is taken by Ladybug!

His stakes in the series…

- Help Ladybug recover the Kwamis.

- Keep his Kwami to be able to be valid again, even temporarily.

- Seduce Ladybug.

- Preserve his secret identity.

- Succeed at school.

His Verbal Expressions…

When he is in Chat Noir, Adrien uses and abuses expressions relating to cats. In fact, he thinks his puns are really funny!

"I give my tongue to the cat"

"There's nothing to whip a cat about"

"We'll send him back to his litter"

"It's a time not to put a cat outside"

"Name of a Cat"

"You are very...feline!" »

“You have to call a spade a spade. »

“At night all cats are gray. »

"Playing cat and mouse (and ladybug!)"

We won't hesitate to make puns: "cat-grin" (sorrow), "cat-pristi" (sapristi), "ah cat yes!" ", etc.

Of course, Ladybug will constantly make remarks to him about his cheesy puns.

Attention !

Adrien doesn't know where his powers and his Kwami come from (he wasn't in the same room as Marinete when she broke the orb). So he can never

suspect Marinette of being Ladybug.

When they are in civilian clothes, Adrien and Marinette no longer have superpowers. Their powers are then inactive.

  1. THE KWAMIS

HD SSD:Users:jeremyzag:Desktop:Screen Shot 2012-05-11 at 1.45.21 AM.png

STITCH

HD SSD:Users:jeremyzag:Desktop:Screen Shot 2012-05-11 at 1.50.38 AM.png

Stitch is Marinette's Kwami. Herally.

Tikki looks like a small red quadruped creature with black spots.

Like Marinette, Tikki is optimistic, enthusiastic and naive. Sometimes too much! Because the personality of the Kwamis is influenced by the character of their host. And, when it comes to optimism, Marinette Tikky is served!

The Tikki / Marinette Relation…

Tikki and Marinette adore each other.

On a daily basis, Tikki accompanies Marinette everywhere, even to school, since no one but Marinette can see Tikki.

Sometimes Marinette speaks out loud to him when other people are present. Of course, people think she's crazy in these cases.

If Marinette took off her earrings then she would no longer be able to see Tikki, nor communicate with her. She'll prevent that from happening! But we are not immune...

When a villain takes action...

…Tikki feels that one of his congeners has come into action. This is the signal for Marinette to transform into Ladybug.

When Marinette transforms into Ladybug, Tikki accompanies her and gives her advice.

His stakes in the series…

  • Guide Ladybug as she confronts the villains.
  • Help him collect all the Kwamis.

GARMENT

Garment is Adrian's Kwami. Herally.

HD SSD:Users:jeremyzag:Desktop:Screen Shot 2012-05-11 at 1.51.13 AM.png

As Adrien loves cats, even though he is allergic to them, Plagg has taken on a form that looks like it… And the character that goes with it!

Plagg is lazy, pretentious, sarcastic, vindictive, in short, a cat in all its glory!

Plagg loves living life on earth. For nothing in the world would he return to the Orb.Because when the Kwamis are locked in the Orb, they are asleep in a kind of stasis. It is only when their host formulates a wish that they wake up. In short, life on earth is cool, and so funny!

It's so good to laze in the plush beds, watch TV, play with anything lying around (Ho! A pink roll of paper! Let's tear it to shreds!), and make nasty comments about the humans.

The Plagg/Adrien Relationship…

Plagg took Adrien's personality as he was before his accident. Selfish, always doing stupid things and thinking only of himself. Spoiled rotten ! Plagg keeps telling Adrien that after all, given the service he is rendering him, he deserves to be taken care of in return. He tends to consider Adrien as his obligee, and to play tricks on him when the latter refuses to give in to his whims.

Naughty, Plagg loves to arrange for Adrien to find himself in the company of Marinette, and enjoys seeing him struggle to escape the young girl's attentions.

Adrien is obliged to support Plagg, otherwise he could no longer be Cat Noir.

They bicker all the time, but always make up. Because after all, it is in their common interest to be together.

When a villain takes action...

… Plagg feels that one of his fellows has taken action. This disturbs him. But since he prefers to laze around, he fakes it so that Adrien doesn't notice. Only, he is a very bad actor, and Adrien unmasks him very quickly. But sometimes it works, that's why Cat Noir won't always be on time to help Ladybug!

When Adrien turns into Cat Noir, Plagg accompanies him and gives him advice. Because, damn it, it's still HIS human: it's out of the question that we hurt him, and his human is necessarily the strongest! Matter of pride!

Plagg can't stand seeing Adrien in love with Ladybug for three reasons:

  1. He is jealous: it is HIS human, and his human should only love him.
  2. It's because of her that they have to fight all these fights instead of being able to finish the last level of Diablo 5 in peace.
  3. Ladybug threatens to send him back to the Orb. And that,NEVER !

His stakes in the series…

  • Guide Cat Noir when he confronts the bad guys.
  • Enjoying earthly life and the modern world.
  • Do not return to the Orb.

HOW THE KWAMIS WORK

- As long as a Kwami is not related to a human, he has no form or consciousness. It looks like a small particle of light.

- In the particle state, the Kwami is attracted by the emotions of humans.

- It then lodges in any everyday object, and waits for the human to make a wish.

- Once the wish is expressed, the Kwami can "be born" and empower the human. He appears, like a genius, taking a form influenced by the thoughts of his "Master". For example, Marinette's favorite animal is the ladybug, so Tikki took on a form reminiscent of that insect.

- A human linked to a Kwami can see his Kwami, but not the Kwami of another human.

- When a Kwami is linked to a human, he cannot see other Kwamis. Plagg is therefore invisible to Ladybug and Tikki, just as Tikki is invisible to Cat Noir and Plagg.

HD SSD:Users:jeremyzag:Desktop:Screen Shot 2012-05-11 at 1.42.55 AM.png

Direction note

To make it easier to understand who can see what, we'll use some simple staging rules:

- When the Kwami and his host are alone, the Kwami is totally visible.

- When the Kwami and his host are in the presence of other characters, and we need to see the Kwami, the Kwami will be translucent.

- In most of the plans where we will not need to see the Kwamis, they will simply be invisible.

  1. THE MECHANICS OF EPISODES

In each episode, two narrative lines run in parallel:

  • Plot A around Ladybug, Cat Noir seeking to retrieve the Kwami from the villain of the day.
  • Plot B centered on our heroine Marinette and her relationships with Adrien, her uncle, her grandfather, Alya, etc.

Outline Example

Plot A

Each episode beginsfrom the point of view of a new human character finding himself in a situation that will lead him to make the wish that will awaken the Kwami who already has his object.

We discover the negative feelings of this character, his psychological flaw. This Kwami will then give a power to the human, a power corresponding to his fault.

Example :

A Kwami takes "possession" of the mirror of a vain man who spends his time admiring himself. The Kwami gives him the necessary powers to do what he wants...

The villain's appearance is then modified, his clothes are transformed into a villain's costume in relation to his defect.

Thanks to the Kwami, the villain will have the power to change the physical appearance of people. He wants to make everyone ugly to be the most beautiful. This will create a general panic.

Plot B

At the same time, we follow Marinette in her daily life. Either an adventure where she tries to seduce Adrien, or a story with her friend Alya, or with her parents. Here, the adventure could have a link with "appearances".

Example :

Marinette thinks Adrien isn't interested in her because she's not pretty enough. As a result, she decides to do everything to change her style, look, haircut, etc. Obviously, the consequences are comical, Marinette and her legendary awkwardness arrives at worse results than with her look before...

Plot A

While the villain sows panic in the Parisian population, Marinette herself finds herself "victim" of the villain.

Example :

Marinette is "victim" in turn: she finds herself with an ungrateful physique. Ok, she wanted to change her look, but not that much! It is then that she will discover the human victim of the Kwami.

Marinette then transforms into Ladybug…

transformation ritual

Marinette speaks her magic spell and transforms into Ladybug.

…Ladybug goes in search of the villain (investigation). Ladybug finds herself in a critical situation, the villain proves to be very powerful.

Plot B

Continuation of Marinette's Daily Plot.

Plot A

Marinette/Ladybug hatches a new plan to defeat the villain. Usually with Chat Noir.

Climax / confrontation of magical powers

Ladybug must stop the villain from doing harm by confronting him. It's a duel based on magical powers during which, in our example, the villain will be able to change Cat Noir's physical appearance. The latter will have the same appearance as the villain, Ladybug will no longer know who to fight against.

At the end of the fight, Ladybug manages to recover the Kwami according to the following steps:

-When the villain finally realizes his weakness, he is ready to give up his power. The object in which the Kwami is locked becomes vulnerable to Ladybug's power.

-Ladybug slashes the sword of light into the object. We can imagine a ritual movement accompanied by a magic formula that we would reuse in each episode, in the same way as the transformation.

-The Kwami is ejected from the object in its form of light particle. The villain, who is no longer human, resumes his human appearance. The object returns to its normal appearance.

-Ladybug retrieves the Kwami in the little magic bag she wears on her belt.

-Later, she will empty her bag into the orb.

Example :

Here, our vain human will understand that the important thing is not in external appearances...

We will take care of the treatment of these "morals" so that, precisely, they do not appear moralizing.

It may happen, exceptionally, that Ladybug fails to capture a Kwami. We can imagine a super villain who will return several times.

Epilogue

Solving Plot A.

Ladybug returns the captured Kwami to the Orb.

Solving Plot B.

Marinette finally returns to her initial look: too bad! Adrien will have to love her as she is. Incredibly, it is precisely at this moment that Adrien finally speaks to her: to tell her that she has done well to return to her old look... At least Marinette will have succeeded in ensuring that he is interested in her. All is not lost !

  1. THE TONE OF THE SERIES

Ingredients

A positive series in essence, Miraculous Ladybug is based on the combination of comedy, romance and action. These three elements are constantly intertwined in the stories.

-Comedy + Romance: the fact that the heroes do not know their respective identities causes many misunderstandings. In vaudevillian fashion, Marinette loves Adrien, but Adrien only has eyes for Ladybug. This has the advantage of being a universal form of humor.

-Romance + Action : Action games are an opportunity for Cat Noir to show off in the eyes of Ladybug. The action is therefore the privileged theater to develop their romance.

-Action + Comedy: their powers, based on creativity, are permanent sources of surprises. The action is therefore always tinged with comedy. The villains themselves are morebigger-than-life that really frightening.

Comedy

As previously stated, comic elements aim for universality.

Miraculous Ladybug is as much vaudeville as it is burlesque; vaudevillian through situation comedy and the exploitation of misunderstandings caused by the fact that Marinette and Adrien must protect their secret identities from all eyes; burlesque by the misuse that our apprentice heroes make of their powers, and by the grandiloquent side of the costumed villains.

Action

Miraculous Ladybug is a fun and upbeat series. Above all, Ladybug seeks to HELP, whether it's the people who are victimized by the villains, but also the villains themselves! The action scenes are spectacular, on the one hand by the use of superpowers, and by the fact that the action takes place in known places in Paris. What's more spectacular than a superhero brawl on top of the Eiffel Tower?

Romance

The series' romantic stakes match those of the main protagonists and intended viewers: Ladybug and Cat Noir seek their first kiss. Nothing more. We're basically in an innocent, platonic relationship.

  1. SECONDARY CHARACTERS

GRAND-PERE FU

Thementor by Marinette.

Grandfather Fu is an eccentric and gruff old man who runs a bazaar in the Belleville district. Everyone around here calls him "Old Fu". He often mumbles in Chinese, but speaks French very well, when he wants!

Marinette adores Old Fu and considers him her true grandfather. She calls him "Grandfather Fu". And even times, when his tongue forks, "Grandpa." But he doesn't like that. That's old, when he's only 114 years old!

He is always dressed haphazardly, flip-flops in winter, fur boots in summer. The only constant is his favorite football team's scarf! The only hobby he enjoys is betting on snail races. The rest of the time, he runs his shop...

But make no mistake, this is all a ploy: in the secrecy of his back room, he is the Keeper of the Orb, a magical object that houses the Kwamis.

He is the last of a millennial tradition of Guardians. The Aspiring Guardians were all trained in a temple lost deep in Asia. Only the best of them became the Keeper of the Orb.

The Keeper of the Orb can only entrust a kwami to a noble-hearted person. Which has never happened before, because according to Fu, he has never met one! So no one has ever had a Kwami.

It must be said that what he experienced made him suspicious: due to the instability of the region, the temple was destroyed and the Order of the Guardians dispersed. Fu had to take refuge in France so that the Orb wouldn't fall into the wrong hands.

Touched by Marinette's kindness, he puts the Chengs up at a friendly price in an apartment he owns in the same building as his store. In exchange, Marinette gives him a hand with his housework or sometimes cooks for him.

Even if he seems grumpy and grumpy, he adores Marinette. But he never shows it, because he is very demanding, both for himself and for others. Marinette is not fooled by this: when he tells Marinette that his shrimp rice was "not bad for once", she knows that he actually found it delicious! Besides, he wants to finish the dish, but just because it shouldn't be spoiled. Yes that's it…

Eventually, he would like Marinette to take over and become the new Guardian.

Grandpa Fu is the only adult who knows Marinette is Ladybug, as well as Marinette the only one who knows "Old Fu" is a Guardian. It's the two of them's little secret. Word and mouth shut, his parents won't know!

ALYA

Alya is herebest friendby Marinette / Ladybug.

As eccentric as Marinette is classic, Alya wears extravagant outfits, swinging from gothic to geeky.

She does nothing like the others. It's her way of distinguishing herself.

Alya is the eldest of a large family. His parents are from Reunion Island.

Reckless, Alya seeks thrills at all costs, which often gets her into trouble.

Not supporting injustice, she never hesitates to defend the weakest, even against much stronger than her.

Basically, Alya behaves in everyday life like Ladybug would, unlike Marinette who lets her shy personality take over when she's out of costume.

She is very talkative and never hesitates to give her opinion. Besides, she has theories on everything, very often absurd, it must be admitted.

Alya is perfectly at ease with all things technology and telecommunications.

Alya is fascinated by Ladybug whose adventures she experiences vicariously. She dreams of gaining powers and becoming a heroine like Ladybug.

Moreover, a budding reporter for the college newspaper, Alya got it into her head to get an interview with the superheroine. Alya seeks to gather as much information as possible about this mysterious Ladybug and runs, following this goal, some dangers by approaching very close to the bad guys.

It may happen, during her investigations, that Alya gets closer to the truth and is about to unmask her best friend. But, of course, that will never happen!

Anyway, Marinette would deny, she would never tell him her secret.

His stakes in the series…

- Find Ladybug. (Meet her, interview her, discover her true identity !)

The Marinette/Alya Relationship…

Alya took Marinette under her wing. It's her way of acting like a heroine on her own scale. She protects her, even though Marinette doesn't need it, Alya is like a mother hen, she's a hen friend!

The two girls love each other. Alya and her always exaggerated attentions make Marinette laugh.

The only disagreement between the two friends: the boys!

Alya doesn't understand how Marinette can fall for Adrien. She finds that he is playing it too much, even if Marinette assures him that he was not like that before. Alya prefers to cover her ears when her friend spreads about her.

On the other hand, Alya finds Cat Noir super classy, molded into his somewhat gothic leather uniform. Oh! If Alya was Ladybug...

TOM and SABINE CHENG

THEParents of Marinette, heradult referents.

Tom and Sabina Cheng are living proof that opposites attract.

Tom is a cartoonist. Creative, always smiling, he loves cooking and partying. It's a real head in the air. It is not uncommon to find him with his shirt backwards. As a result, he is always late to return his boards.

Sabine is a lawyer. Organized, head on shoulders, she spots the lie miles away!

Even if they bicker, they love each other deeply because they both share the desire to be useful to their neighbour. He by giving people dreams, she by protecting them.

Marinette admires them. She would love to look like them, but she doesn't think she has the talent of her father, nor the strength of character of her mother.

That's why she spares no effort to carry out her mission as Ladybug. When she sees her parents applauding the exploits of the ladybug superheroine, she knows she makes them proud of her, even if she can't tell them her secret.

When she doubts herself, she knows that they will always find the words to encourage her.

RENAUD & EDWIN

Two comical aliens who pursue Marinette and Alya with their assiduity...

Renaud Lahiffeis a 13-year-old otaku. Big fan of cosplay, passionate about TV series, his personality varies depending on the movie he saw the day before. If he has seen a kung fu movie, he will behave like a martial arts master. If it was a sci-fi movie, it'll be speaking in Plutonian all day!

One constant characteristic, however: while Renaud is normally exuberant, he is so shy in the presence of a girl that he becomes unable to speak to her. He is deeply infatuated with Marinette, but she doesn't seem to notice.

Edwin Schrödinger is a gifted 10 year old (he skipped 3 grades!) passionate about quantum physics and pure mathematics. He is Renaud's best friend, to whom he serves as a translator when he wants to invite Marinette to the cinema in Plutonian.

Edwin likes order and tidiness. For example, he must imperatively sit in the same place, whatever the classroom, and take his prune juice at 4:00:00 p.m.

Edwin often uses a very "technical" and "scientific" vocabulary! So when he tries to translate Renaud, it's not necessarily very effective!

CHLOE, SABRINA & ALIX

Marinette and Alya's worst enemies. A trio of bitches who play tricks on them all the time...

Chloé Delanorac is the rotten-spoiled daughter of an elected mayor. Blonde, precious and pretentious, she is the leader of the group. She never hesitates to play on her relationships, ready to promise a parking space to the professor in exchange for a good grade. She is interested in Adrien because he is handsome, rich, and a future great scientist. The fact that he resists her makes her want to have him even more. Not because she loves him, but on a whim. She feels in competition with Marinette, and therefore hates her.

Sabrina Ratif hates her red hair and her skin that turns red with the slightest ray of sunlight. Because of this complex, she tries at all costs to make herself interesting, even if it means talking nonsense. She can't stand being caught in the act of ignorance. As a result, she is in unfailing bad faith. A chatterbox who elevated lying to an art! She worships Chloé, whose beautiful blond hair and matte skin she admires.

Alix Coupedelle is a very tomboyish little brunette who is only interested in football. She does not hesitate to compete with boys, but is often rejected. "We don't play with girls!" she often hears herself say. Alix does not recognize herself either in the clichés of girls or in those of boys. But she would like to find her place all the same. So she hangs out with Chloe to learn how to become more feminine. She has nothing against Marinette and Alya, but hey, you have to do what Chloe says because the captain is in charge, you see?!

LE MAJOR DAUME

Thementor of Adrian.

Former soldier who became the bodyguard of Adrien's father, the MajorDominique Daume has become over the years the trusted man of the family.

It was Madame Nanty, Adrien's mother, who insisted that he become their butler, because she wanted someone to always be there to take care of Adrien after his accident. Madame Nanty and her husband are too busy with their business and consider that their son is much more fragile than he really is.

Imagine a Lino Ventura in livery who would always have the right anecdote to advise Adrien during difficult times...

Don't be fooled by his stature. This colossus who could knock down a tree with a punch is a fine and refined man, polyglot and very cultured. Self-taught, his knowledge comes from the field. He has amazing stories on everything from fishing swordfish with Hemingway and advising him to write a book about it.

Very aware of the codes of high society without being stuffy, the Major knows how to play his role to perfection. Always discreet, knowing how to anticipate the slightest need, this fine cook is also very picky about cleaning.

Contrary to what Madame Nanty ordered him, the Major manages to give Adrien as much autonomy as possible. He understood that it would not be doing him a favor to constantly assist him. He always encourages him to do things on his own. Adrien is very grateful to him.

The relationship between Adrien and the Major is therefore both full of restraint and very complicit. They love each other, but will only show it in an implied way. No big outpourings like with Marinette and Alya.

Adrien is unaware that the Major caught him transforming into Cat Noir. But the Major, respectful of his secret, told him nothing. He prefers to wait for Adrien to open up on his own.

Until that day comes, he will discreetly make it easy for him, anticipating his needs for alibis when he needs to transform.

  1. PLACES

JEAN DE LA HIRE COLLEGE

The Jean de la Hire college is a French establishment of secondary and higher education, located avenue de la République.

The school has a gymnasium, a self-service canteen, a media library and an infirmary.

One of the particularities of this establishment is the existence of an Art room with an original functioning, named "room 22" because it is located on the second floor. This room is accessible to all students at all times. They can find plenty of material there and are free to use it as they wish.

All forms of art can be practiced there: Music, drawing, photography, theater, etc.

Jean-Pierre Colle, the professor in charge, does not give lessons strictly speaking. He is content to guide in their experiments the students who express the need for it. The goal is that each student can awaken the artist who lies dormant in him, free of any constraint and any note.

This room is a place of socialization particularly appreciated by middle school students. And above all, of course, Marinette and Adrien…

CHENG'S APARTMENT

It is a small F2 located on the top floor of an old building in Belleville. The attic has been set up for Marinette to set up her bedroom in, giving her easy access to the roof to soar off as Ladybug.

The decoration is an improbable mixture of Western furniture and Chinese trinkets: in the living room with flowery wallpaper stands the Mook Jong[1], the wooden dummy used to practice Kung Fu Wing Chun, while the rice cooker sits on the formica table in the kitchen.

THE GRANDFATHER'S SHOP

The shop is on the ground floor of the building where Marinette lives. It's a Parisian souvenir shop, with the Eiffel Tower in plastic and the Arc de Triomphe in a snow globe. But since no tourist comes to the neighborhood to buy it, business is not booming. But whatever, this is all just a cover. His goal is precisely that no one comes to his house. Because the important thing is what is in the back shop.

Protected behind a heavy door, of which only Grandfather Fu and Marinette have the keys, the back shop is a pile of strange objects over which he watches.

THE NANTY PRIVATE HOTEL

Located in the beautiful districts of Paris, it has belonged to the Nanty family for generations. Adrien lives there with his mother and Major Daume.

The Art Deco-style entrance is imposing with its double forged doors, and has an exit that leads to the underground car park.

The interior will remain mysterious because we will never enter it. Unless, one day, Marinette was invited there...

ALYA'S APARTMENT

It is a five-room apartment located near Couronne in a modern HLM, but we will only know Alya's room, when Marinette and she are talking via webcams.

Alya shares her bedroom with her younger sister. The room is divided in two. Half of Alya is lined with posters of comic book superheroes, the floor is strewn with cables connected to an imposing DIY computer station. Half of her sister is just a pink jumble of dolls and clothes.

When Marinette and Alya find themselves outside of college, Alya prefers to go to Marinette's house, to escape her intrusive little sister.

PLACE DES VOSGES

One of the most beautiful squares in Paris! Its square and its fountain are ideal for picnicking, and the shops under the arcades are perfect for drinking an orange juice or shopping. This is where our heroes will hang out most of the time outside of college.

THE HIGH SITES OF PARIS

The Eiffel Tower, Beaubourg, the Arc de Triomphe, the quays of the Seine, the metro, etc. And especially the rooftops! The fights of Ladybug and Cat Noir will be an opportunity to have a unique view of the most emblematic places of Paris, ancient as well as modern.
