[Translation]

Budapest, 11th Jan 1931

Honourable Sir,

This afternoon I received a telegram from Professor Osborne in London in which he was pleased to inform me of my election to the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, the British artists’ association.

That this distinction should have fallen to me, the first Hungarian to be thus elected and a former scholarship student, I attribute in great part to the assistance I received in the past from you, Honoured Sir, which effectively permitted me to  spend two years in London, during which period I was able, through my work, to come to the attention of the British, for which I have repeatedly expressed my gratitude.

Please pass on my greatest respects to your honoured wife.^[1]

Méltóságos Uram,

ma délben kaptam meg Londonból professor Osborne táviratát, amelyben örömmel értesít, hogy a Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, angol művész-egyesület tagjává választott.

Hogy személyemnek mint az első beválasztott magyarnak és mint volt ösztöndíjasnak adatott meg ezen elismerés, érzem, hogy ehhez az eredményhez nagyban hozzásegített Méltóságos uramnak a multbani hathatós segítsége, hogy két évet tölthettem Londonban, és ezen idő alatt a munkáimmal módom volt az angolok figyelmét felkelteni, amiért ismételten jöttem köszönetet mondani.
