10, CONNAUGHT PLACE.

W.

April 23-

Dear Mr de Laszló

I hope you will forgive me for troubling you – as follows: One of my cousins  Mrs Claude Montefiore[1] is a very great admirer of your work and would so much like to make your acquaintance or to see some of the beautiful portraits in your studio.

Might I bring her one day after Tuesday?

My cousin is really devoted to painting and works hard herself at landscapes.

I have stupidly mislaid your home address, so am writing to the Studio.

One evening, I hope that you and Mrs de Laszlo will give me the pleasure of dining with me.

I am yours truly,

Constance Battersea
