My dear de Laszlo,
Most grateful thanks for your letter and very kind thoughts and wishes for the present events in my country. They are indeed great happenings, but I only hope I will be worthy of what is expected of me.
I am very touched by all the interest and sympathy you show and always have shown in the cause of my family. It is wonderful and an encouragement to me to feel all my dear friends in this country are supporting me with in [sic] their thoughts.
Please express my gratitude to your wife too and tell her how appreciatif [sic] I am.
