WITTINGTON,
MARLOW.
3rd. Janry 1919
My dear Mrs de Laszlo.
I had no time to acknowledge your kind letter which arrived the morning I was leaving for France and Germany. Friday Decr 20th. So I take the first opportunity after my return to do so.
I spent a fortnight on the Continent and made a trip as far as Cologne where I spent [illegible] with the leading Military Commander of our army of occupation. Everything I saw in Germany was full of interest. Especially the British “Tommy” who seemed perfectly “at home”. If I can get a car to bring me. I will come and pay you a visit on Sunday & stay to lunch if that would not be too much of an intrusion. I hope your husband is enjoying his surroundings & improving in health & that this New Year may have good tidings & gathering happiness for all.
Yours sincerely,
Devonport
