- When will schools be cleaned and reopened?
Superintendent Kitamura has emailed regular updates to parents and guardians about the cleaning process, and the phased reopening of our schools:

Santa Rosa City Schools is just beginning to assess the needs of our school community after the devastating fires. The best way to help right now is to donate money or gift cards. You can do that in two ways:
- Send checks or gift cards to Superintendent’s Office, Santa Rosa City Schools, 211 Ridgway Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA, 95401.
- Contribute using our PayPal link: Santa Rosa City Schools' PayPal
If you do not specify that the donation is for a particular school, we will make sure your donation goes to those in our district who need it.
The need in our school community is unimaginable. Thank you for your donation!
- What is being done to mitigate the loss of instructional time for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) students?
- The District Coordinator for AP exams has been in touch with the College Board to request that SRCS be allowed to administer all AP exams during the time period set aside for Late Testing. The District is waiting to hear from College Board AP. The Test coordinator for the International Baccalaureate program has been in contact with IB to see if Montgomery can delay the examination schedule, and is waiting for a response. - Can teachers and staff return to schools now?
- Teachers and staff: Please do not enter sites or classrooms during the cleaning process. Please do not remove items from classrooms or office spaces. Rooms and contents are being evaluated during the cleaning process to ensure that all rooms are returned to their previous state. We will notify staff when it is appropriate to return to the school sites.
- Do you have any art or other projects for students that could help during this stressful time?

- Do you have any resources for Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate students?
- How will I meet the October 31, 2017 deadline for colleges with early decisions?
- Common App has been contacted and the California wildfires have been added to their list of natural disasters so colleges are aware, understanding and willing to help students unable to meet deadlines. Common App recommends each student contact their prospective colleges to let them know what their specific situation is. - The University of California and California State Universities will accept applications through November 30, 2017.

- Transcripts are available at the District Office, 211 Ridgway in the Curriculum and Instruction 7-12 office, 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
- Will schools open next week?
- All elementary, secondary, and charter schools in SRCS will remain closed October 16 - 20. Information will be sent out and posted next week on the process for resuming normal operations. To view the letter sent to parents, please click:
- Did my school site burn down?
- At this time, all SRCS schools, with the exception of Hidden Valley Satellite, are still intact.
- When will schools reopen?
- This decision has not been made. Reopening schools is dependent on several factors including 1) Fire Containment 2) Site Safety Issues Addressed 3) Availability of Teachers and Staff
- My school text books burned in the fire. Do I have to pay for these books?
- No, please report your loss to your teachers when school resumes. New books will be provided.
- I am applying to a University/College. How do I get a copy of my transcript?
- If you need a transcript prior to schools reopening, beginning Monday, October 16, transcripts will be available at the Curriculum & Instruction office, 211 Ridgway Avenue, Santa Rosa. Please contact the Curriculum & Instruction Secretary, Sydney Arcilla, at 528-5284 if you need them mailed to you.
- What is the new date of the PSAT?
- The College Board could not accommodate our request for a testing date; however, our juniors will be able to compete for National Merit Scholarships using their SAT results. Please see this Letter about the PSAT for more information.
- How will my classroom be ready after the fires?
- SRCS is the process of contracting with companies to deep clean classrooms and office facilities prior to school reopening. This process will start the week of October 16.
- My child attended Hidden Valley Satellite. Where do we go?
- Students attending Hidden Valley Satellite will be welcome to attend Hidden Valley Elementary main campus, if that option works for their families. Students who have lost their homes may choose to attend other schools closer to their temporary housing. Parents of HV Satellite students will receive information directly from the principal during the week of October 16th.
- Will my child be able to attend the school they attended before the fire, if we have been displaced by the fire and now are staying in a different part of town?
- Yes, they may return to the school they were attending prior to the fire. You can also attend the school closer to your displaced residence as long as it’s not full. In our district, the schools that are at full are: Santa Rosa High, Maria Carrillo, Proctor Terrace and Hidden Valley. More specific information will be provided.
