  3. Began development in late 1998 if Jesse Schell remembered correctly.
  4. Released on June 2nd, 2003
  5. Built in Panda3D Engine with Python
  6. The website uses two domains.
  1. Official Dot Com Website URL & Official Dot Go Dot Com Website URL
  1. The go.com website url for Disney’s Toontown Online was the most recent version of the domain though using the original url still works just fine.
  1. Used to be able to be played in-browser using Flash
  2. Gave free memberships from August 20th, 2013 to the closure on September 19th, 2013
  3. This is what the launcher looked like prior to the shut down announcement:
  1. This launcher would automatically save the entered username if you’ve previously logged in to the game here.
  2. The game previously wouldn’t launch on Windows 8 though the fan recreations have allowed it to run on all modern versions of Windows
  3. After the game announced it was shutting down, there was a banner in launcher that said it was shutting down
  4. Disney’s Toontown Online was pitched to Disney in 1998 by Jesse Schell who worked at Disney’s VR Studio, which was a subset of Disney Imagineering at the time. However, Schell Games didn’t exist yet
  5. The game had a mod loader that allowed for unofficial mods in Toontown Online.
  1. The earliest Footage of Toontown Rewritten was shown off by Joey Zio on September 26th, 2013 in a video Toontown Rewritten: Pre-Alpha Gameplay:

  1. Goofy Stadium
  2. Construction Zone
  3. Funny Farm
  1. There was an April Fool’s prank that circulated around the internet of a Funny Farm Street
  1. It appears it was photoshopped judging by what people say and just by looking at the Acorn on the top-right of the image, I would have to say that I agree!
  1. This game was locked to a 4:3 aspect ratio
  2. If you had a membership but didn’t have Speedchat+ Enabled, you could get around it by using the True Friends feature.

  3. I asked Jesse Schell about a potential revival of Toontown Online on August 20th, 2020 at 4:10 PM; he is not very optimistic about getting the rights back.
  1. This game had an insane amount of injector hacks with it but this isn’t all of them. However, there are a lot of them!
  1. There are other massive hacks like
  1. Magic Cat
  1. Magic Cat has inspired an SOS card in a server though it escapes me at this moment in time.
  1. Doodles, the pets for the Toons, were supposed to be much more in depth gameplay wise than what we ended up with as shown in the design documents!
  2. From a certain point, Toontown could be played in-browser using the ActiveX Plugin.
  3. Disney’s Toontown Online didn’t run on Windows 10 but somebody found a work around for it.
  4. Normally, if you played Free-To-Play, you Only had access to one Toon slot (Green/Top-Middle) but if you had a membership and you made a Toon in the Pink/Bottom-Middle, you would still have access to that second Toon after your membership expired.
  5. Lil' Oldman was based off Professor Lilloman from the movie: High Anxiety:
  1. After being released on Test Toontown, Bossbot Headquarters released on March 6th, 2008.

  1. Trolley Tracks
  1. This also made it into the game but was removed in May of 2012 according to the Toontown Wiki article on Removed/unreleased features’s Trolley Games Section.
  1. The Brrrgh Tag Arena
  1. “In phase files there are two different versions of the tag arena, possibly meaning that playing the tag game in different playgrounds would have a different arena.” – Toontown Wiki’s article on Removed/unreleased features’s Trolley Games Section.
  1. Daisy Gardens Tag arena
  1. This was added in Toontown Rewritten when they revamped the Cog Thief Mini-Game.
  1. This is what the launcher looks like:
  2. As pointed out by Loonatic on Twitter, the back of Lawbot Cog Building has misaligned N-Gons

  1. Toontown Rewritten
  1. It is a video game!
  2. Abbreviation is “TTR”
  3. Commonly thought of as just a revival of Disney's Toontown Online, Toontown Rewritten continues the story of Disney's Toontown Online
  4. Features like Parties, Doodles, Field Offices, etc. were late to the game
  1. Field offices in their TTO state never made it into TTR as they got revamped as part of the Sellbot Task Force Expansion in Toontown Rewritten

  1. According to Steve Stevenson, one of the founding staff members of Toontown Infinite, Lefty Lemonzilla is the reason that TTR made Toonguard because:
  1. A member of Toontown House team named Jean had put a line in the log in script on the Toontown House website
  2. Clear text passwords were being saved to a text file for a short while until Steve noticed
  3. Pascal got his hands on the text file containing the clear text passwords in a csv file
  4. Pascal assumed they used the same password in TTR
  5. Pascal made videos of himself logging into rando's TTR accounts and deleting their Toons
  6. Pascal says he would continue doing this for the new 5 days
  7. After this TTR implemented Toonguard but since it wasn't immediately enabled everywhere, it still technically continued
  8. Pascal prerecorded videos of him doing this after TTR implemented Toonguard
  9. Shortly after this, Steve kicked Jean from the Toontown House team

  1. As the image above states, the original Toontown Infinite was initially forked from Toontown House before they got a secret gift from a TTR dev containing the TTR source code.
  1. The first iteration of the server was shut down due to drama
  1. The drama is expanded upon in a Google Doc here (or here if the original doc is taken down)

  2. This is a Toontown game with the goal of remaking Toontown Online into an open-world, character-driven singleplayer game set within the Tooniverse
  1. While it originally not planned on being a part of the local Toontown Multiverse (instead are a part of the old draft of stories under the PLAYER ZER0 STUDIOS’ games division), now the story has evolved into an ambitious modern adaptation of the Twinkling Shadows: A Toontown Story and Disney’s Toontown Online set in a branched timeline of the DuckTales (2017) show under the “games division” of PLAYER ZER0 STUDIO (which belongs to the Arbitrium Studios organization)
  1. Despite beginning development in 2020 (the oldest commit being on October 19th, 2020), the server is still in the early phases of development though Gracie thinks they are nearing a point where they can begin full-on development with one last big push!

  3. On April 14th, 2024 at 1:24 AM EST the game’s python version was upgraded from v3.9.9 to Python 3.11.7
  4. As of June 30th, 2024, it uses Open-Toontown’s Astron which is based off Astron
  1. It used Kraitora as the compiler until it broke
  1. It presumably broke due to the Python version upgrade
  1. The Official Website URL

Dubito liked Mongoose Pickletip’s mock ups for Toontown Empire and brought them on the new project, but it very quickly died out and thereafter they pretty much lost all contact
  2. According to Mongoose Pickletip, based on the timestamps on my files, the whole involvement from Mongoose Pickletip lasted from Dec 21, 2014 (when Mongoose Pickletip got Forever's client) to Feb 1, 2016 (last concept Mongoose Pickletip wrote for Empire)
