5th. January. 1923.
Dear Mr. de Laszlo,
On my return to London I have been informed of your letter of the 25th. December, and your call here on Monday last.
The settlement of the Studio accounts, to which I agreed on your behalf, was only arrived at after prolonged negotiations, and after consultation with Mr. Horser who, as you know, had made a very complete investigation of the accounts on your behalf. This settlement I understood from you when I last saw you you agreed to, although not entirely satisfied with the amount.
I arranged for a reduction of the amount claimed by Mr. Cooper by £325 and in addition it was provided that repairs should be effected to cracks in the walls and the loose boards. The Builders after all the friction that has taken place were not prepared to settle the matter on

any more generous basis.
I regret to hear that you are not satisfied with the settlement. If you would prefer to consult some other Solicitor, I should of course have no objection but I cannot see my way to reopen matters myself.
Yours very truly,
Charles: Russell
