Is housing available for the intensives in Las Vegas?
Housing is available for students 12 years and older.
The Residence Hall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is conveniently located by the airport and is only a short drive from the studios and the famous Las Vegas strip. Our live-in Housing staff are available to students and parents 24 hours a day and assist by providing support and guidance at the dorm and studio. Students can sign up for an escort to and from the studio.

Will there be a housing orientation?
There will be a virtual orientation for students and parents as well as an in person orientation on Sundays after check-in.

CHECK OUT
Students must check out of the dorm before they leave for classes on the Friday of their last week.
Joffrey will provide storage for students who would like to pick up their belongings after classes. All belongings must be picked up on Friday. Housing students are required to schedule a check out time and will be required to move out during that time. Dancers staying at the dorm for multiple weeks do not have to check out during the weekends.
Are students escorted to the studios?
The students will have scheduled meeting times each morning to meet to travel together to the studios. They will also have a scheduled travel group to return to the housing locations for evening check in. Transportation will be provided and escorted by the Joffrey Housing team.
Can I have a roommate?
Students may request roommates under the following conditions: Roommates must reside in housing for the same period of time and must attend the same intensive. Roommate Requests are $100 per dancer. Please note that although we will make every effort to accommodate requests, it might not always be possible.If we are unable to honor a request, the resident will receive a credit towards their tuition.
Are meals available? What is included?
The meal plan is required for dancers staying in housing.
Joffrey Las Vegas & Cirque Arts Meal Plan
- Meals provided: Breakfast & Dinner (Sundays - Saturdays)
- Meal provider: Campus dining hall
- Dietary restrictions accommodated: Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free, Nut-free
- Pickup location: Campus cafeteria
- Additional information: Students will receive their first meal on Sunday evening after they check in and the last meal on Friday morning before they check out. Breakfast and dinner will be provided at the cafeteria on the UNLV campus. Students aged 17 and younger will travel to and from the cafeteria with a chaperone. For lunch, dorm students have the option to place a mobile order from a designated location, which an RA will pick up. This is optional, and Joffrey does not cover the cost of these lunches. Students will be informed of the designated pickup location the night before or the morning of.
Is there a packing list?
- Bedding: Twin XL sheets, blanket/duvet, pillows and pillowcases. Students are allowed to bring mattress toppers/mattress pads.
- Bathroom essentials and toiletries.
- Electronics: laptops, tablets, chargers, etc. The dorm does not provide cable.
- Storage: Hangers and any other desired storage containers.
- Cell Phone: All housing students are required to have a phone with a United States phone number. International students may choose to purchase a “pay as you go” package or turn on their roaming feature.
- Cleaning supplies: Disinfectant/sanitizing/cleaning products, wipes, paper towels, broom, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. Students will be responsible to keep their apartments clean and tidy during their stay. Joffrey will have some cleaning supplies that students could borrow.
Is Airport Transportation available?
Joffrey Ballet School does not offer Airport Transportation for this intensive.
Are there any extra activities?
Joffrey Ballet School will host extra activities for housing students. These activities will take place in the evenings and during the weekends. Information for activities will be posted on the student Band groups.
All JBS events are escorted and chaperoned by staff members. Students (17 and younger) attending activities will automatically have a curfew extension. Legal Guardians do not need to submit a request for a curfew extension.
Most of the activities will be free to housing students. JBS will notify students if any ticketed activities become available. Students should budget for activities if they want to purchase food, treats, clothes or souvenirs.
Who will be supervising my dancer at the dorm?
The Residence Life Department team consists of a group of live-in Resident Advisors (RAs) who rotate duty shifts. The RA on duty can be reached 24/7. The team facilitates daily operations and handles crises or emergencies should they arise. RAs are also available to take students (17 and younger) to the doctor, conduct rounds to ensure health and safety. Our team meets with students to conduct mediations, conflict resolution meetings, friendship introductions and any other situation that students need assistance with.
All of our summer interns take part in a robust selection process that includes a formal application, one-on-one interviews, group evaluations and background checks. Most of our interns are currently attending university or have graduated. All candidates must have a dance background or share an appreciation for performing arts.
